Yes we already have a Mass Effect 3 thread but that thread is about hating bonerservice and this thread is about hating Phantoms Banshees, and longing for the days when Phantoms were the worst of our problems.

I am very fond of the multiplayer demo and expect to play much multiplayer when the game is released! I play on PC and my origin ID is not original (ho ho ho) but instead is 01d55. I am a suspicious soul so if I see a strange friend request I will look in this thread to be sure it is someone from this forum. I am not very skilled in the ways of suspicion but this is a start I guess.

I guess I will go ahead and repeat Zehnoda.

God damn I hate phantoms. Fucking bitches always appear out of nowhere right behind me and pull off unavoidable insta-hit death bullshit. Many a game has abruptly ended the moment phantoms appeared for me.

But yeah, I'm on ps3, so I doubt I'll be seeing many of you guys there.

Everyone who has ever played Krogan soldier has posted this, but I'll say it anyway: Hitting a phantom with Krogan heavy melee is the best thing. It's possible to kill a full barrier phantom with it. They will fly and you will laugh.

I love playing the biotic class that has the biotic charge skill replenishing half your barrier with a 1.9 second timer is ridiculously easy mode though phantoms are still bastards. If your careful and use a heavy pistol or shotgun though you can take phantoms down pretty damn quickly, if they are on their own the biotic charge works as well because it staggers them and you can just fill them full of bullets.

I'm a PC player we should try and get a group together run some missions if we can get a full group together I might finally be able to play a gold mission with people that don't run off on their own face first into a phantom and get insta killed... >.<

Phantoms can't be one shot on gold with krogan heavy melee either.

I've been having a lot of fun playing an infiltrator, but playing alongside a vanguard can be a bit difficult when they charge all over the map staggering my targets and messing my shots.

They're not the only ones that do it, but they make it a lot harder to compensate than say someone who's firing at a guardian while I'm trying to snipe through their little eye window. At least then I can re-aim on their shoulder or upper body when the shield is out of the way. Similar for shielded enemies.

Vanguards, on the other hand, change the way all the enemies around them react. They jink more, dive for cover more, and generally behave more erratically, making it more difficult to line up shots.

Actually, I've noticed I'm getting fewer headshots over the past couple levels (currently 18) than I was previously, and I think it's because my damage is now so high I can get one hit kills from upper body shots. Not sure whether that's a good thing or not.

Also, I really hate the random packs. I've opened 5-6 veteran packs and probably a dozen recruit packs and no sniper rifles, and only a single ammo capacity mod (which, admittedly, is useful).

This is one of the things that annoys the hell out of me as well but if you play on the harder difficulties and get a reasonable group you can get enough credits to buy 1 vet pack from each mission on silver you get 30k creds

I keep playing in the hopes of unlocking Krogan soldiers. No luck. Which is awkward cause I have so many upgrades for assault rifles.

There were some people who thought it was funny that my adapt goes into battle with just a pistol. The 186% cooldown reduction is worth it. When shit hits the fan I can toss up a Stasis trap and retreat. Not to mention biotic explosions are the best.

I've been finding the easiest way to take down Phantoms is to pistol them from afar. Getting too close tends to be a death sentance for me, even as a Vanguard. Though the shotgun works in a pinch. And thoguh I haven't played a Krogan Soldier yet, I do enjoy working with them in battles. Pretty much every time someone plays Krogan I find myself buddying up with them and we go wreck faces all over the place.

I've nearly maxed my Van now too, got Charge, Nova and all the major shield buffs maxed out. Being able to now pull off a double strength Nova blast, then charge into another guy, instantly have all my shields back, and then hit them with ANOTHER Nova wreaks all kinds of damage. I find myself even using Nova to take down Atluses now.

I'm still seriously lacking in actual weapon upgrades though, I mostly keep getting mods. And I need to remember I have a bayonet on my shotgun now, even the light melee does surprising damage.

I need to try out more classes soon though, but I kinda wanna try another race too. So far only unlocked Drell Van and Asari Adept.

How big is Origin and the Multiplayer Demo? I was gonna hold off, but I now want to get them since it sounds like good fun.

So do the 1 off equipment buffs for your armour and stuff dissapear if you don't use them? Because I now seem to be missing quite a few.

I just got the demo yesterday (I know, late to the party) and I'm going to try out multiplayer today, very excited.

Oh, when you start out be careful that you don't quick match into silver; the default setting is "any challenge" but when you start out you want to select bronze.

Yeah I duno why so many low level characters are being used in silver, they are more a hindrance than a help. I've even seen completely new players starting out in silver, where they inevitably die within a single wave. It goes downhill from there.

I made sure to go to bronze, so far it's been fun. Once I got the hang of it, I thoroughly enjoyed playing. Looking forward to more maps.

So I just tried out my level 4 Asari Adept for the first time. Only took an smg but the powers made it worth it. Funnily enough I was in a group with a bunch of high level dudes and we were only doing bronze, got to wave 9, they all stupidly ran out in front of a turret leaving me the sole survivor.

I managed to hang on for a good while, even killing a phantom on my own (Stasis is totally OP), but then I got surrounded and another Phantom snuck up behind me just as my shield failed. I was just about to kill the last target too.

The Asari power melee attack is an aoe attack that pushes back everyone near you.

Yeah I noticed that. It's like having Nova instead of melee. Asari is really overpowered.

I kept disconnecting from Xbox Live so I only got to play the demo for like 3 minutes, but it was a fun 3 minutes. Looking forward to playing it on the PC, though half my friends are going 360 and half PC, and that's slightly irritating.

Hey so remember how bullshit it was when you learned a Phantom can sync-kill you?

Well it turns out Reapers have this thing called a Banshee that's armored and teleports and can sync-kill you. Have fun dodging Ravager volleys while fleeing your suddenly Banshee-infested cover!
