Lots of pieces of media could have been shorter. That doesn't really say that it needed to be shorter or that most people would enjoy them more if they were shorter. Hot Fuzz was amazing because damn near literally every line of dialogue is relevant or a setup for something later, but that can't work for everything.

You don't need all that dialogue, but I damn sure wouldn't like the game if it wasn't there. I don't want to just be told what the plot is and why everything is how it is. I want the characters to explore those points at the pace you'd expect them to. And I want them to have pointless chatty dialogue because that's what people (and monsters) do when they talk to one another. The conversations that are true character building moments are the ones that have no real relevancy to the grand scheme of the world, the important points come when it's a thing that only matters to those characters.

I mean fuck I can't even imagine what my life would be like if everything I talked about had to be relevant to a central plot, or I had to cut my conversations down ten times. That said while I can't imagine the specifics I'm pretty sure it would be boring, I wouldn't have friends unless they were relevant to that plot, and even then they'd only be "friends" in the sense that they're travelling with me to accomplish the goal set by that plot. To me, what you just said makes absolutely no sense. Unless you go into the story with the sole objective of getting to the end.

My point is that it's load of loads of dialogue saying the exact same thing over and over again with no relevance or wit or interest. It is the same line of dialogue speaking over and over and over.
It is not "showing you the plot" it is telling you the plot in excruitating painstaking detail. It is the most basic of writing errors- not being able to tell things so that they unfold in a way to the reader so instead just dumping megaloads of text on them.
This game is laborious to get through and there is no reason it needs to be laborious.
My complaint is not that "notrhing is relevant to the plot" my favourite works of fiction don't even have a plot- my complaint is that the "plot" is straightforward, the characters are straightforward and yet they drop 40 billion lines on us going through their same straightforward machinations and these lines were written by a computer trying to write like a human after reading a mixture of Miles and Boones novels and Lord of the Rings.
I shouldn't have to read 1000 poorly written repetitive lines to learn that Luka wants monsters and people to get along. Like holy fuck.

E: By dialogue I'm referring to like all text in the game not just like people speaking.
Luka/Alice dialogue is ok at points. We can keep that.

I'm just not seeing it. Between Acts 1 and 2 there's repeated points, but the two were released months and months apart and are separate purchases, so not everyone who plays two will have played one.

The only thing I can think of is how in the first act it beats you over the head with the kill the Monster Lord thing, but that comes hand in hand with hinting that Alice is the monster lord, which was just one long setup for Alice calling Luka an idiot for not noticing sooner.

If it wasn't the dialogue that was too long then I really don't get what you mean because most of the game outside of the battles is just irrelevant dialogue. Out of the entirety of the game most of the actual story takes up very small portions of the dialogue. The lions share is just Luka and Alice talking as they travel.

But it's weird insofar as my memories of this game will be predominantly, A: Field 2 rocks, and B: It's the Negaduck, Bizarro-world universe version of an H-game, in which the sex scenes are awful Christ make them STOP but everything except the sex scenes are somehow tolerable.

Not great, mind you, but let's not equivocate "tolerable" with "great." It's decent. It's just that compared to other experiences within the narrow confines of its genre, "decent" is really quite good.

Not as such, no. The entire fight revolves around surviving that attack twice, rather than anything to do with Nanabi's hitpoints. It's technically possible to win while missing every single attack and doing no damage, since merely using the attack command grants the SP needed to meditate.

You really shouldn't be doing anything but Meditating and Attacking until the time to Guard comes. The first Meditate should come just before your HP drops below half, and every subsequent Meditate should come any time you have the SP for it, regardless of hitpoint count. Seven Moons comes with enough warning that you should have either enough health or enough SP banked to prepare yourself adequately.

I recall having the same problem, and I think the download I'd gotten was missing something at the time. Does the main directory have all five arc files? There should be arc, arc1, arc2, arc3, and arc4. You only need to overwrite the one for the translation, but the others still need to be there.

I wouldn't think so, as that stuff is separate from your actual play through. And mostly terrible.

You do want to collect as many items and trinkets and revisit as many places as possible, though. And some of that involves avoiding some fights, which would otherwise by encyclopedia entries.

I think the key thing here is to recognize that you're playing a porn game and that normal definitions of "worse" don't exactly apply.

In that aspect I think it's actually better. The horror rape monsters there are are worse horror rape for the most part, but there's a higher percentage of normal*/boring stuff to horrible stuff.

Also, there's only, I think, two unavoidable sex scenes this time.

But then I only lost like five fights, so maybe some of the stuff that looks like it should be relatively normal boring porn is actually terrible?

Story/Plot Wise it gets better, which is to be expected from a character driven narrative. The characters are now established and so you see more character growth and change happening, which you kinda saw at the end of part 1 but it continues into part 2.

The worst part is the cliff hanger ending.
