Okay, it's only a small recognition, but still, they just hired (http://www.slashgear.com/nintendos-newest-hire-is-the-co-creator-of-sonic-04221619/) someone who helped create Sonic.
It's a small recognition that the video game market is changing a lot. Let's see what he can create in the world of Big N.

The thread title is extrapolating a bit, since the guy has worked for Naughty Dog and Namco-Bandai according to that article.
At most it probably just means we should keep an eye out for games he has a hand in.

When NPF truly discovered itself.

Misleading thread title is misleading. And anyway, Nintendo is more in a position to buy out Sega (http://www.segasammy.co.jp/english/pdf/release/20120330gyoseki_e_final.pdf) than the two of them merging.

Seriously, Jagos? Can we please cut it out with the sensationalism in your threads? I mean it's been going on for a long while but this is just ridiculous.
I doubt this is pointing to anything spectacularly significant. They probably just hired him because he's a veteran in game design, rather than anything to do with Sonic or Sega specifically.

No, see, guys, he put a question mark after that so it's totally okay, like a news headling going, "Barack Obama: Unrepentant Muslim Atheist?" It's not sensationalism if you put a question mark after it, it's just people asking questions.
Oh hey Jagos made a Kotaku article title
If Kotaku had made it it would have just straight-up reported it as having come from "a trusted source inside the company" like every other crazy rumor post they make.
