The original Fallout is 100% free at GOG.com for the next 48 hours. (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/fallout)

No reason not to. That is all.

Also War something changes something.

At the time of this post servers are fairly overloaded though, so be patience.

I hope I can at least get in and claim it (I hope you don't have to actually download it, from what I've experienced there in the past, just click on it to "buy" it and it'll be there for you permanently in the future to download, correct?).

EDIT: Yes, indeed, it says "add to my account", so I think that is all that one has to do, login and click on that. That way if the server is super busy right now it can be downloaded later at one's leisure.

ANOTHER EDIT: Hah, I see your sly ways now, GOG.com! Get me in with the free Fallout and then tantalize me into preordering Legend of Grimrock for $12! Must resist...MUST RESIST...

What if I already have it? This is not relevant to my interests.

It's yet another vector from which to download it. Imagine you are on someone else's computer you want to give the game to and you don't want to download and install the Steam client or whatever you have it through now. GOG.com is just a straight download.

Also the GOG version actually works on Win7 64 without mods, which is good for me.

Sweet, I'd never heard of the Fallout series until well after this one was out so now I get to see what all the fuss was about.

Do yourself a solid and check out Fallout 2 as well, even if you don't like the original.
