edit: haha GW2 is in the "Best Multiplayer" section, and they used an image of a mesmer phantasm that uses a gun. Did they do that so all of the pictured games included guns?
But it's not in the "best graphics" category? The world is brilliantly beautiful; what's with all these FPS games in this category (aside from Journey, which looks creative but is that really enough for "best graphics"?)?

I never played Mass Effect but isn't Shepard supposed to be an Avatar of the players themselves instead of an actual character that could be nominated for, say, being the best character? The Master Chief? What the heck? And why's Julian Assange in there, he's not even a video game character.

E: Dark Souls 2 Trailer looks kind of not like it belongs to a Souls game to me. That one dude is way too badass. I am cautiously optimistic seeing as the game has a different director. The game'll probably be good but I actually care about the lore of the game and the little details of the world as well. If that is not to my liking I will immediately "know" who to blame. Also appears like it might make the slightly more hidden of the two endings of Dark Souls canon. Which I'm fine with. Previously people speculated that this ending was the prequel to Demon's Souls but oh well, this thread isn't about actually good games*.

Also a while back, when the internet voting shit was happening, I looked through the nominees for all the categories and laughed my ass off at how terrible they were in almost every category. The VGAs are a joke, and the entire affair needs to be rebuilt from scratch before it stops being a joke.

At least we got that Dark Souls 2 trailer (and now I'm eagerly awaiting EpicNameBro's analysis of that trailer).

The rest of the time he's adventuring. Anyway, Miyazaki is still supervising the game's development, so it's not like he's leaving it high and dry. Also, server-based multiplayer.

Anyway the dragon that shows up reminds me a lot of Kalameet from the Artorias expansion. Even if it's in some way related to Kalameet, that could put the game as a prequel to Dark Souls (part of me is hoping it's set before Gwyn kindled the flame, in the true Age of Fire). It could still be a sequel though, and without ruining either ending. That's because the "good" ending, where you kindle the flame, is only prolonging the inevitable Age of Darkness. Eventually there won't be an undead to kindle the flame.

Oh it still had plenty of bullshit, most of the awards were not even given on stage (pretty much everyone who got a award during the pre-show got it extremely casually during thier interviews like "Oh by the way you won this thing" and most of them were disgustingly shocked at them getting it at that point) and it still had a lot of stupid stuff such as giving Kojima like 2 seconds of screen time when he was in the crowd and he thought he would be on stage or something.

It was still the best one I seen, again that is basically a D+ though.

All right, that does indeed look like a dragon rather than a drake or a giant winged lizard, so it's probably a prequel set before or during the war against the dragons. Or perhaps in the aftermath of it. That or that one baby dragon down at Ash Lake managed to reproduce asexually somehow and repopulated the world with dragons. Might also be that they only call it Dark Souls but it's actually set in an entirely different universe. That is assuming that they would have called Dark Souls Demon's Souls 2 if it weren't for the copyright issues. But yeah, at this point we could go crazy with speculation.

Though looking back at it, fighting with arrows and swords sticking out of your body and winning is kind of badass but the purpose of the scene appears to be more to emphasize the struggle than showing how awesome that guy is.

Doubtful, you can see Anor Londo in the background a few times (just the citadel and none of the other parts of the city itself, nor the burg.) and the guy crosses what seems to be the bridge from the Painted World. The trailer implies prequel pretty damn heavily.
