I'm thinking of playing KOTOR again, because I never beat it the first time.

What mods should I get? I don't want story mods. Only mods that fix bugs, improve graphics, improve performance, or tweak the gameplay in ways that are Good.

HAVE AT YOU

just to be clear, we talking about the original, sequel, or a run of both?

Just, as a public service announcement: If you read this title in a thick British accent, it gets much funnier.

Original. I know there's a mod out there that's supposed to make KOTOR 2 complete.

There's actually several, which are themselves in varying states of completeness.

But the original, as I remember it, was actually well-designed and not really that buggy at all. I never really bothered modding it.

Smarty you're fartz.

Also, I never really modded KOTOR that much except for a few sidequests to add in. I guess the graphics have aged a bit haven't they.

Do you want me to read it out a few times on Skype?

I'd recommend a Dark Side KOTOR playthrough and a Light Side KOTOR2 playthrough.
Beyond that, just be aware that Taris in the original KOTOR drags on and on for millennia. I tried replaying KOTOR about eight months ago and couldn't make it beyond the Taris underworld.

And we all know how much Kim loves Taris.

At least I can take some comfort in knowing what eventually happens to Taris.

If I remember correctly Dantooine was my favorite location in the original KOTOR, actually. Loved the music and the atmosphere there. So, at least you get that as a reward after suffering through Taris. (Unfortunately, Dantooine is far shorter.)

If Dantooine is the place I'm thinking of, I loved playing through that part because I got to have the Montagues and the Capulets murder each other while I laughed and laughed and laughed.

Yup! That was a fun sidequest.

What I'm gathering from this is that nobody knows any worthwhile KOTOR mods. Damn.

I recommend the mod where you play OgreBattle instead.

One time I tried playing Ogre Battle and woke up naked and afraid in Wisconsin.

Never again.

They released a patch for that. It doesn't totally fix the problem but you end up in Vegas instead so its workable.

Oh man, I should have taken your advice, Smarty.

KOTOR is terrible.

I like TOR more than I like KOTOR.

Here is a mod that lets you skip Taris. (http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Super_Skip_Taris;71749)

Y'know, if you're interested in that.

Just skip it and go to a modded version of KOTOR2.
KOTOR2 is more your style.

It IS pretty dated. I had fun with it, though.
