Alternative title, Revenge of the Steam sale.

So yesterday I saw there was a flash sale on a little game called Frozen Synase, which I had been wanting to play for a while. I have since become completely addicted to it. It is a squad based, simoutaneous turn based cyberpunk strategy game. Basically Rainbow 6 meets Tron. And it is so. Much. FUN!

Gameplay is simple and intuitive, but very deep. You issue orders, waypoints and such to your squad, then you can play out those orders as many times as you want, to see what happens. You can even issue orders to enemy units to see what might happen if they move in certain ways, but of course you don't know what they will actually do until you hit the final confirm button and end your turn. Each turn last 5 seconds in real time and you can go back and watch every turn over again, and every game is recorded, allowing you to watch anybodies matches. You can even upload matches straight to youtube from within the game.

There's a full campaign mode (with random level generator, so if you fail a mission you don't get to replay the exact same level), with a surprisingly deep storyline, instant skirmish and skirmish generator and sort of play by email like system for multiplayer games. The UI makes finding matches and comunicating with others really easy. And the music is fantastic.

Right now it's back up to its full price (the flash sale yesterday had it down to like £3, but the full game is only £10 anyway) and every purchase gives you 2 copies, so you can gift one to someone else. It is totally worth every penny.
And if I haven't convinced you, here's TotalBiscuit talking about it;

So yeah, anybody else interested/already got this?

i have it and i suck badly at it. I can't predict what enemies would do very well but I am mean when it comes to attacking a single target.

Finally, a response! I had almost given up hope that anyone here played it.

But yeah, don't worry Doc, if my first few multiplayer matches are any indication I'm not great either. I just lost my entire team to 1 guy after wiping out nearly all of his other men. In 1 turn I went from surefire victory to embarrasing defeat. His amazingly unpredictable counter maneouver that lead to this? His guy didn't move. At all. I had predicated he would, so when mine moved, he just gunned them all down, then one of my own guys spazzed out for some reason.

I also lost a charge match due to the enemy having all the cover, a rocket launcher and a sniper, where I had a nade launcher and a shotgunner and my rifleman died in the first turn to a long range rocket. Yeah...

So at this point I would welcome the challenge of facing someone more my level, if you're interested?

I've played online once (against Karesh) and I'm only a handful of missions into the story. It's one of those games I can't play for long stretches of time because I start to overthink everything and run through too many simulations before locking in my own moves and then it turns out all my simulations were dead wrong.
