Interest Check : Minecraft Survival Marathon

So, let's see if these seeds bear fruit.

Here is the concept.

A Group of players from the forum... ideal 5-7 players.

Everybody logs in Minecraft, brand new world, brand new map. Hardcore Survival.

You die once, you are out of the game.

Everything recorded, everybody chatting during the whole session.

We start at a designated time that works for everybody that is late in the night and in move towards the dawn (or until sleepy sleepy tiemz) booze and food are authorized to make you stand longer and party harder and sound funnier.

Just one, big, stupid minecraft marathon where the goal is survival.

I know some of you are up for that type of stuff, but we need a team and some organization to pull this off. I can gladly record everything, edit it and make it available to all. Or we can just livestream it if some of you have the bandwidth to pull it off.

So, i'm now officially checking your interest in this and trying to coordinate the best date and time for it.

My fraps is well configured to record lengthy sessions with minimal lag and direct output of the video for a youtube-friendly quality format, so that is super easy.

Actually the only hurdle would be to record all the voice feeds from everybody, i THINK skype is the easiest way to do this, but it's a payed feature i think...?

Skype is free for just calls and stuff. You need to pay (or get a free trial) for video conferences (and maybe other stuff). But regular group calls is still free.

And then you just need to make sure FRAPs is set to record your input sound as well as the output (so it records you talking into your mic in addition to us, and game sound).

Pyros is free anytime 'cept Monday after 4, can try and do streamy things, and has the FRAPS. But I tend to be unlucky when it comes to recording videos!

Are we doing this like, separate Minecraft worlds, or one combined one? Private Server or Hamachi Lan mess? Bacon or Sausage? Fire or NOT FIRE?

Been having personal fun in "From Ashes' with mods, and a friend of mine is trying to set up a Pathfinder dungeon crawl with Minecraft (with aforementioned mods)

What you mean by Separated or combined worlds?

If it's related to servers, i think it would be best to have map just for this, y'know... some place we can wreck freely. But i'm good either way... and just for control sake, it would be best just to have the team that agrees on it to be in it. Y'know... to add in to the "survivalness" of it all...

As for mods, i'm WAY out of the scene, but i'm game for literally anything.

If we were on a server, we could just do one world, combined. If we are just playing on our own games and streaming it to each other, it'd be separate worlds.

I'd say we only do mods if everyone else wanted mods, and if we did there's the lovely deal of "Magic Launcher" that lets you play modded without having to actually modify your Minecraft install and makes things really easy.

But the real fun in survival is the lack of having nice things, like: Backpacks, Superweapons, and Touhou weapons. Without them, it's just us, crappy weapons, the luck of the hunt, and hundreds of horrible creatures.

We have two options that only depends on people being up for it... Friday night through Saturday, or Saturday Night through Sunday. Either way is fine by me.

I can record fraps, and i have skype and i can record both audio and video and still play. I just can't make servers and my ping kinda sucks...

My GMT is -3 so we are going to have to sinc our clocks on this one, but i'm game for this weekend if you guys are.

Full hardcore survival to the last man standing.

We Start on Friday JUNE 13th as close to midnight as possible, and we power through to saturday.

All timezones are to be adjusted to the Owner of the server.

Audio and video tests will be conducted 1 hours previously to the start of the game. So, not everybody needs to be in for that.

Everything will be recorded by Fraps. I'll record the main stream, anybody else who wants to record may do so, and if you want just send me the files later and i'll edit everything together. I'll make an youtube account for ease of sharing.

Also, chat via Skype conference call. Recorded with Audacity on my end.

Voice chat is 100% optional to participate.

I got tired of the normal NPF Minecraft because I had to keep denying new versions, or reverting, and it basically made it a huge hassle. I'm tentatively interested in this, but if it's being hosted in the West US it'll lag like hell for me. But I could give it a try anyway, if there's nothing too special I need to do?

Besides, a 6AM start may actually go a little way towards fixing my atrocious sleeping patterns, since I'd probably try to catch a good 7 hours of nap before.

I had completely forgotten about Minecraft before discovering it on someone's HP laptop running at 65C today. A normal stress test got it to 90C. Could almost boil a kettle on that.

The actual crafting of mines will begin in 9-ish hours.

If I don't break something, I'll run the server on my laptop, so that weird stuff won't happen. Don't worry, apparently my laptop has a better CPU than me desktop PC...or, should I just run the server on my desktop? (which is already set up since the testing with Bells happened)

So, for some reason Pyros and i ended up as a Married for 50 years couple... i mean you kill ONE LITTLE new born chicken and suddenly pryos want to burn the whole damn house down...

I went venturing to the ravine to grab some iron I spotted to make a bucket so I could snag some lava so I could top my tower with a glass sphere of lava.

Then a skeleton showed up and shot me off my ledge, knocking me down to two hearts. Turned out he had a skeleton buddy waiting below with fire arrows to finish the job.

I left a will in my tower, knowing I might fall and die while building it. Hopefully Pyros will see it through on his stream.

Me and Flare had an epic, final dual, where hit her in the face with a gold sword repeatedly and then she hit me with a diamond sword a few times.

The event could have gone on forever, as Flare would have never, ever found me, myself being a student of Bear Grylls more than a student of running at someone with a sword, but I felt some of us needed sleep, and I had a boatload of swords on me at this point.

Also, let it be known, that only people with "Fire" in their names can survive for longer than 2 hours in minecraft.
