So, a lot of people have the Sonic racing games and a lot of people have the desire to play that game together... so here is a thought for a penny.
Instead of your usual steam party post in the steam party thread, why not try and do something a little different?
In this here forums you can list racing games you have and that you would like to play multiplayer with the forum people. Also, easier to setup racing nights and party hours.
But not only that, here you can post screenshots, times, runs and records for bragging rights within the forum league. Sure, you can see leaderboards in game... but can you rub it in the faces of the people in the forums? NOT LIKE THIS NO!
I'll keep this first post updated as people decide to chime in to participate. This is what i have, add in more games and names if you want to get in the league:

which is actually a pretty fun game. a Bit too Simulator-y for me, but you really do feel like a badass when you make those sharp curves with crazy speeds with sand blasting everywhere.

Not to mention the car choices. Plus the Demolition derbies.

I've got Sonic Racing Transformed and Burnout Paradise.
And I'm not sure how awkward it is to setup custom races in the game, but I also have Grand Theft Auto IV.

i've seen some crazy maps on Multiplayer GTAIV, i imagine you could probably make some "First From X to Y wins" stuff

From what the Achievement hunter folks have done, it's not that hard to set up races in GTA4.

Jak X: Combat Racing needs to be released on steam before I'll participate in an NPF racing league, sorry.

I got Racing transformed and GTA 4, also put Karesh down for Transformed as well.
I'm up for Transformed
If this works I'm wondering if we could make a general co-op/Multiplayer revival.

So it seems some of us need to get some more games.

Racing doesn't have to be explicitly about racing simulators and games, either -- you could even have game-based races (example (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3521844), if the pay wall is down; edit: it's not currently)!

It's a thread with what's become popular for "racing" in the SA LP subforum -- a game is picked, and folks try to beat it or complete objectives in it in the least amount of time. Depending on the folks running it or playing together, there may be bonus objectives that can affect the time (e.g. the Mario 64 race giving penalties for certain stars, bonus time for others).
I think it gained traction when a group of the active LP folks started racing Mega Man games. Simply Simon's Mega Man LP threads kept getting used to also organize and run races for the specific game he was LP'ing at the time. I think other such races were held here and there, but I am not sure how many; there are several dotting the YouTube landscape from SA accounts. Eventually a thread got made to house more race shenanigans (the one I linked), and a lot of these videos are a result of this thread.

Mega Man 5 Race (http://lparchive.org/Mega-Man-5/Update%2018/)
Super Mario 64 Race (http://lparchive.org/Super-Mario-64-Race/)
Smite's YouTube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/itsallup/videos), featuring many of the videos from the aforementioned thread
The Super Meat Boy Race: A Look Back (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZOOsvZUGag)
Typically, each player records his or her screen and audio (specifically, just their call audio). A synch is used to line up the audio and video -- usually someone counts down and they all say "synch" for the audio or all press start at the title screen for the game -- so that whichever person is editing together the race videos can line them up easily, as correct as possible, for each group as well as splice in various video game remixes and music for the background. Then fastest time reveals the winner, both in an individual group's video and overall.
Obviously, the success of these largely depends on the quality of the nonsense conversations and/or the level of play shown.
It may not be everyone's cup of tea, and there sure are ones I haven't enjoyed. But overall I find many of the personalities involved to be quite entertaining and have had fun with several of these. There are some great players, as well -- I've learned of the existence of all kinds of speed tricks in Mario 64, for example, and that no one can beat Dectilon at Mega Man games.

The above may not be in the intended spirit of this thread, however. So feel free to ignore it here -- it perhaps might be best served as a separate thing, if it at all tickles anyone's fancy.

I would like to prioritize actual racing games at least once, just so we can go fast.
But Synk's idea is also cool, so in the case he brings up, there's also Dark Souls Bingo (http://herpderp.com/bingo.html?seed=825031) "races." I think the downside here is having to get whatever group of players to record/stream, plus someone else to edit it all together (maybe), and that's a bunch of work. Still, could be fun.

Made the event. (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NPFU#events/1729665525100328839)
If the time doesn't work for everyone, or if we have to push it to tomorrow, just let me know. I just wanted to put something down before everyone got lazy and/or forgot about it and nothing happened.
