Now my nephew loves his books. His favorite kind of books, choose your own adventure. So I thought, thats basically what a VN is, so I could get him that. Then I also realized, he's 11 and the best VNs I've played I definitely dont want him reading yet. So I'm asking for more child friendly ones, in English.

Looking for ones available on PC, but android would be ideal. As I said he enjoys simply reading them so graphics are a non-issue. If its a pure text choose your own adventure instead of an actual VN feel free to still recommend it. Also dont worry about reading level. The whole reason he's looking for more stuff to read is he's looking for added challenge since school isn't really providing it anymore.

Project AON has online the publicly free releases of Lone Wolf, a choose your adventure RPG game in the vein of Fighting Fantasy, completely free.

http://www.projectaon.org/en/Main/Home

The website's full of ways to play the books, from running them straight off the site, letting you download them as embedded html files or as pdfs, ebook formats and even a webapp that runs through the first 5 books here: http://lonewolfadventures.projectaon.org/

The websites also go resources and links to apps that will let him play the game like a VN, particularly Seventh Sense (check the bottom of the books page).

It's might seem a bit daunting at first, but just run through the first book with him and he should get the hang of it.

See if you can also get him El-Hazard, which got a fanmade PC and GBA port, which is a typical anime affair that's fairly light hearted, though the guy's taken down the PC version (though I has it) because he hated his younger self's written dialogue. The GBA version's still on the net (and playable on android therefore), though because it was an epic undertaking that far outclassed any homebrew games on the market. Has the occasional bit of drunkenness as a plot point, and there's a few secret hidden bathing scenes, but for the most part is kid friendly.
