Secret Bases = confirmed! For those unaware, Secret Bases appeared in the original Sapphire and Ruby as a fort that trainers could decorate and personalize but sadly they were never to be seen again - that changes now!
In the spirit of improvement Nintendo has really amped up the Secret Bases in Alpha and Omega, essentially turning them into a trainer's own unique Pokemon gym! Players can choose the battle rules, the themes, and the types of Pokemon that will do battle in their Secret Base. From the available screenshots it seems we will have an abundance of decorations to choose from, which will be essential for those of you who want to impress your StreetPass friends with both your interior decorating and Pokemon battle skills.
When you visit another player's Secret Base you'll find all the members of that Base hanging out, ready to have a chat or a battle! Flag your friends as Secret Pals and you can continue to have Pokemon battles with them. Secret Pals will have "Special Skills" that you can take advantage of on your Pokemon journey, these include sharing new decorations, speeding up the hatching of a Pokemon Egg, or leveling up a chosen Pokemon. The more Secret Pals you have the more special skills are available!
There is also a really cool 'capture-the-flag' element added to the Secret Bases. According to Nintendo if you examine the flag beside the Secret PC in another player's Secret Base you can capture it! You can only collect one flag per base so visiting lots of Secret Bases will help you to improve your team's rank and get rewards, including increasing the skills of your Secret Pals.
Got this out of an e-mail from Play Asia.
So, i finished my run on X and Y without going nuts. I did 100 hours in that game, but i didn't even touch the Meta. Don't really care for EV... just wanted to make sure i had seen a bunch of new pokemon, explored the whole map and caught all my old favourites. Which i did, and now i'm running a second for-fun team in the post-game, using all the Original fire starters.
When the new Ruby and Saphire were announced i was ready to skip a generation. I mean, i had my fill! Pokemon x and y are pretty fun games. Some of the ''overly niceness'' of the world is a bit much... but hey, i'm not the target audience... its fine.
Also, i got my Buttefree in the hall of fame. So, screw the Meta...
Now they come around and announce secret bases... and teams... and capture the flag... and i c an have my own freaking Gym?! WAT?!
I liked the X/Y online functions... i won maybe 2 battles online, every single other battle i had, i was curbstomped to death by asian players... a full Hyper Charizard sweep wil do it every time... but i wanted more.
Hell, i think we all usually want more out of these games that's why we keep coming back...
Now i dunno... the idea of being able to visit a high level, player tailored gym, is fun. Like... really fun. I Like that. To seal me on the deal all i would need to hear was ''And you can make your own badges'' and then i would be pre ordering right now... But this news has managed to take me from ''meh'' to ''peeking over the fence''
What about you guys? Anybody has the poke-fever?
