As the thread title says, I am doing a game jam this weekend. It is a low key thing with some buddies, but all day Saturday, I'll be programming a game.
Here's where you all come in! I'm looking for stuff to incorporate into the game! Genres, themes, ideas, et cetera! I won't use all of them, but I'll try to get some of them in. Mostly, I want some sort of restrictions imposed, aside from the time limit itself, as restrictions breed creativity.
I'll post the game online somewhere, once the jam is over, if people are interested in checking it out.
Edit: Oh yeah, also, I am more interested in 2D than 3D for this weekend. Let that restriction breed YOUR creativity!

Requesting malevolent, moustachioed hats as enemies.

Some sort of shoot 'em up where you get more points the more enemies are on screen when you defeat one and you need a minimum of points to progress every now and then.

There better be fairies somewhere.
Is what I would say, but fairies make too much sense in a shooter. Include books instead.

Dwayne Johnson needs to be in there somewhere. Maybe a boss, maybe the protagonist, maybe a humble merchant that sells you fine wares.

He's a chef. He sells food. He never once users The Rock's catchphrase, but it's set up for it in every interaction.

Murder mystery theme. That or soap opera romance on the high seas.
Both for double points.

I'll give you a gaming mechanic.
Platformer.
Your character can only stand on platforms that have the same color as he does (character is mono color)
Character absorbs the color of anything he hits (enemies included)
Character can teleport (limited range) between platforms of the same color.
Go nuts.

A stealth game where you play as an inordinately large minotaur who needs to try his absolute HARDEST to be neither seen nor heard during heist/assassination/whatever.

One level takes place in a china shop.
Another level involves hiding from Chef Dwayne Johnson, who wants to make minotaur burgers for the upcoming X-TREME BARBECUE.

Whiskey makes you stumble into stuff. Keep it subtle.
Each use of whiskey adds 0.05 seconds of input lag, but only on random inputs so the player isn't quite sure if the controls are janky or they just keep messing up.

Man, that was quick.

if whatever you do has a story in it, I like stories where the protagonist is kind of an asshole--not "snarky" or w/e, not charmingly roguish, just shitty to people and weaselly and unpleasant. Then over the course of the story they learn the hard way about not being shitty to people. (They can grow to be charmingly roguish then, I guess.)
if you need a setting: Space castle. Giant space castle.

Requesting the hats wear tiny old-timey millionaires on their heads instead of hats.

If you drink all the whiskey in a level you die. No explanation. You just die.
If you drink all the whiskey in a level you die. No explanation. You just die.
But on a delay and with no visual indicator. This game is gonna be terrible!

So how did this go anyway, RPG? Did you include whiskey and books?

Oh, I totally forgot this thread.
So, I made an experimental little micro-game based around a concept that I had kicking around in my head, which didn't really pan out in an exciting way. Halfway through, I began transforming the game into a different concept, which I also had to shift away from for similar reasons (Just wasn't fun enough). At the end, I'd finally started settling onto something pretty cool, but there was no real game to it, just a little proof of concept of the general feel I was going for.

So The Rock's Giant Space Castle never happened is what you're saying?

Well, I'm not saying it -didn't- happen.
It was just very abstract, if it did.
