So I got Bayonetta 2 a few days ago on release. And HOLY SHIT. That perfect 10 it got from Gamespot? (http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/bayonetta-2-review/1900-6415911/) Totally justified. It is by far the best action game I've ever played. So much content and all so fucking good.

Like the game just plays smooth as silk. You can equip different weapons on your hands and feet, and every combination has it's own moveset granting you an absurd variety of moves. ENDGAME SPOILERS Also multiple characters! At least one of which has her own completely separate set of weapons granting her as much variety as Bayonetta..

On top of that the game is pretty decently written and has had me laughing my ass off on several occasions.

So in summary, buy this. If you don't have a Wii U, buy both. The Wii U's the best console at the moment anyway.

It does look good, though I didn't and likely won't play the first so I hope that doesn't set me back. Might wait for a price drop though, still too busy playing Mario Kart.

It comes with the first game, that's a proper port to Wii U no less. Definitely gonna be one of my first buys when I get one.

Yeah physical copies of Bayo 2 comes with Bayo 1 included at no cost. I think the e-shop, for some asinine reason, forces you to buy them separately, which ends up costing more than buying the physical version of Bayo 2.

Anyway, I'm still playing Bayo 1, since the last time I played it was when it came out, and I had forgotten everything about the story and characters since I last played it. It's a fantastic port. It has that "hd-remake" look to it during cutscenes, and I've had the framerate tank when things get a bit too hectic, but other than that it's still an amazing game and is an absolute blast to play.

Oh, sweet. Yeah I'll probably add it to my collection then at some point.

So I beat Bayo 2 last night. Holy mother of god, this game is amazing. There were so many parts where I had a big stupid grin on my face while playing because of how awesome the segments were (be it the fight itself, a cinematic, the setting for a fight, the music, just, fuck, so many great things meshing together in this game).

I also loved how the story not only brought new plotlines to the table (and resolved them in satisfying ways), but also resolved a lot of plotlines that were left dangling from Bayo 1, including things that I hadn't even thought needed a resolution.

Seriously, this game is amazing, I can't stress that enough. Go buy it now. Go buy a WiiU so you can buy this game. I'm not even kidding.

e- I've also procured the game's soundtrack through completely legitimate means (well, when it gets a NA release I'll buy it in a heartbeat), so now I've got 6 hours of awesome music to play on loop nonstop.

I love their perky old-school jazz remixes.
As for Bayonetta itself, the more I read about it the more it seems like the kind of game that's objectively very good but subjectively not for Snake, but (potentiality of objectification aside) any time a game with a female protagonist gets rave reviews is a good thing in my book.

Disclaimer: I tend to put my foot in my mouth when it comes to talking about this stuff, so if I've made an ass of myself please point it out without taking it too personally so I know where I've made an ass of myself.

See, Bayonetta is an awesome character, with great growth across the two games, and she's never really defined by her sexuality (it's more like a tool for her, and a bit of a shield in the first game). But then they go and have slow-mo ass shots that are just obvious fan-service that serve no real purpose other than to be fan-service. At least when she starts showing more skin it's because of her using her powers, so there's an actual reason behind it. I dunno, the games waltz a weird line between fan-service, satire, and genuine praise (I feel like that's not the right word to use in this case but it's the best I've got after staring at the screen for a few minutes) of the female body.

Also dunno if it helps, but the lead character designer, and one responsible for Bayo's design, is female (Mari Shimazaki if anyone is interested). Only reason I bring that up is because I remember when there were similar talks about Skull Girls' character designs, it was brought up that their designer was also female.
