The Steam Autumn sale is on... with some changes. For example, no Flash Sales or Daily Deals. Instead, what percent off they are... is the lowest they'll be.
Still... GRID Autosport for 10 bucks... So tempted...but...college classes... Damn you Gabe! Why must you make games so affordable!

I want to get Life is Strange since this is the first time the entire season has a discount (before all they ever discounted was the first episode) but I'm not going to have time to play it between exams/projects coming up and Just Cause 3 coming out next week.
So I'm going to wait for the inevitable xmas sale to pick that up, and maybe DMC4:SE if I get any steam gift cards for xmas.

I wonder why they're changing the daily/flash sales. I feel like they encourage spending more than a regular sale, but what do I know.
Also: Tales from the Borderlands is 50% off and worth every penny.
The Pros so far: Holy moly so many games are 50-80% off! Time to stock up on lengthy adventure games and rpgs for the long barren winter.
The Cons: Shadowrun Hong Kong is cheaper than when I bought it at the Halloween sale, and the games I decided NOT to get at Halloween are now more expensive. I have chosen poorly.

Due to the refund policy people no doubt ended up buying and refunding alot, really it just punishes people that dont check back every 12 hours and figure alot of people, if they miss a flash sale just wont buy it at all.

I was considering a IWbtG-type game called Eryi's Action for $2, but Super Meat Boy is also $2. I don't have Meat Boy. I should probably get that.

Just to make sure, but the computer Left4Dead games (as opposed to the console versions) don't have local split-screen co-op, right? 'Cause I wanted to get those finally, but if the only multiplayer is online then there's not much of a reason for me to do so.

Yeah it's all online multiplayer in the PC versions.

I've actually been unpleasantly surprised with my expenditures for the Autumn Sale (by which I mean, I spent more than I anticipated, given that Daily and Flash sales were eliminated from contention.) Instead of having to check on an hourly basis, I also was able to buy everything in one big bulk purchase, which is something I deeply prefer...it's improved the quality of the experience for me.
So far, I gobbled up Life Is Strange, If My Heart Had Wings, Magicka, Deadly Premonition (finally!), L.A. Noire and Renowned Explorers: International Society. L.A. Noire was probably the silliest purchase of the bunch...I've platinumed the game on PS3 but thought for such a low price it'd be nice to replay the full game with all DLC in chronological order.
I'm also really considering Sunless Sea, which I've heard great things about.
But I want to take a moment to strongly and unapologetically shill for Renowned Explorers, a really phenomenal Indie game that's just been buried with lack of sales. It's incredible and well worth your consideration if you enjoy strategy RPGs and want to try a strategy RPG which rewards diplomacy and cunning as well as traditional 'combat' approaches to problem-solving. You can basically play through the adventures without killing a single soul, which is great. My one social justice nitpick is that, because the game takes place in a romanticized version of the Victorian Era, it's shitty with racism -- for some reason it handles the sexism of the period just right (by pretending it doesn't exist, and elevating women to positions of equal stature) but your exploration in Africa involves running into villagers that fit all the objectionable and outdated 'primitive' stereotypes. Fortunately, you can basically avoid Africa entirely.
Also: If you haven't picked it up yet, I can't recommend Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) enough. It's an adorable platformer that celebrates Inuit culture and Inuits assisted in creating the game. It's short, but it's lovely and it's cheap now and it's another of those Indie titles that has criminally been swept under everyone's radars.
Anyone else have recommendations of games off the beaten path to check out?

A friend of mine gifted me Party Hard.

Still, looks like quite a game for way more than the current price.

The Beginner's Guide is now at 40% off(6.00 now) and was already cheap to begin with and is one of those games which I already included as one of the games that made me feel things this year along with Undertale.
I made a post about it here (http://www.nuklearforums.com/showthread.php?t=43870) that went under the radar and I would feel a bit odd just retyping a synopsis I did already. It is also one of those games that is best the less you know going in.

Me: Well, I'm sure there's going to be a Winter Sale in like four weeks, so maybe I'll just go easy on the ol' wallet and focus on games that are super cheap. Nothing more expensive than $10.
*Glances at Wishlist. 85% of items are under $8.*
Me: WELP. *Shovels games into cart*

Who needs comics when we got games?

Bought more than I intended but actually didn't spend that much. My damages:
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Nidhogg
Invisible, Inc.
Technobabylon
Resonance
The Banner Saga
Total: Under $40. Invisible and Legend of Heroes were the most expensive things I bought, and those were $9.99 each. I've wanted Invisible Inc for a while though, so I'm okay with this outcome. Nidhogg I got because my sister wanted someone to duel, Technobabylon and Resonance I got because I adore Wadjet Eye Games, and Banner Saga is my usual "I only bought this because I saw it on the front page and it looks cool" impulse buy.

I can imagine. I accidentally dumped eight hours into it yesterday ("It's 10 am, maybe I'll play an hour or so of this new game. Oh wow now it's dinner time.") and it's already killed three of my favorite characters, all caused by my own bad decision-making (presumably). It's like Oregon Trail on steroids.
The art is fantastic and there's so much lore and world-building. Really enjoying it so far.
I'm assuming the winter sale will have some trading card malarkey so I'm holding off buying anything now... but it's hard to resist. I can't even play games for the next 5 weeks! Why am I looking to buy them!?

I get what you mean. I already have great games I haven't even touched yet. Wonderful 101, A Link Between Worlds, the new Dragon Age
Not to mention those I haven't beat yet like Fire Emblem and Bravely Default
Plus anything with a great sale I already owned
