Honestly, they should of left this bug in just so we can see what the Human players come up with to counter the AI.

Well, there's this. (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-06-03-elite-dangerous-latest-expansion-caused-ai-spaceships-to-unintentionally-create-super-weapons)

From the sound of the article the AI was creating weapons by taking optimal stats from separate weapon groups, which human players would never be able to do. So the only way to combat these super AI would be to nuke them out of existence before they started shooting, and the only way to do that would be with a large number of players in powerful long-range ships, which isn't very likely to happen in Elite since it uses instances with lower player counts. And nobody would want to risk their Anaconda (dunno if they added bigger ships than that yet, haven't followed Elite since they decided to screw over early adopters with the expansion nonsense) for no reason other than bragging rights.

EVE players can reliably get more than 4 people into the same instance.

Two different games, two different systems of play.

True and true...and we got Capital NPCs to hunt. Up too and including Avatars.
