Let's start building a practical list of things this forum is talented at or knowledgeable of to figure out what we should be posting!

Well, I'm pretty familiar with C# for programming issues, but I really doubt that's going to come up much.

I'm also very familiar with Paint.NET and all the nifty plugins available for it, and HTML, CSS, Javascript, Flash, PHP, and Perl for anyone who needs help designing a web page.

And, not that anyone else probably uses it, but I've got Anvil Studio pretty much all figured out for those who feel like making MIDIs.

I have a vast, titanic vocabulary and can answer almost any given question. Not necessarily good answers, but you know. Also I have impeccable ontological shock resistance and can accept any person, idea or thing, no matter how Earth-shatteringly unusual, without flinching. Though that's not very useful on a forum.

I can write like an angel and draw like a devil. A devil with one eye and claws for hands.

And I'm very modest.

I can draw a bit.

My ears buzz usually a full two seconds before the phone rings.

I can focus on two objects simultaneously.

I can tune my farts to hit specific notes.

And I'm restraining from putting a string if sex comments here, mostly because they feel horridly out of place. And because I don't want to have sex with you, Lev.

Maybe with Tev.

And if you feel like making MIDIs (or non midis by using soundfonts) I can probably help you with TuxGuitar, which is actually a program to create guitar tabs. But I'd also consider it a decent sequencer. Which is to say, I find it easy to use because of my musical training reading the first ten pages of a beginner's book for guitarists, which is not an instrument I play. In fact I don't play any instruments..

Got a funny story about phone prescience. One time I lived in a house where the phone would make a pretty loud click when someone called, but then wait five seconds to start ringing. On a few occasions I was able to freak out visitors who didn't know about the clicking. I mean freak them right the holy fuck out the door.

Imagine you're sitting in a couch deeply engaged in conversation or videogames or both, then for no reason I get up, walk over to the phone and reach my hand out just in time to pick it up when it starts ringing.

Anyway, skills.....skills....skillsss......yes!

I am capable of basic construction and roofing. I am an organization master able to file, collate, and spread any form of documentation from medical records to traffic tickets and office memos. I am skilled to varying degrees in multiple collectible card games and am at least passably proficient in most video games and excel in the RTS genre. I am adept in the roleplaying arts and have working knowledge of most fantasy monsters, their ecologies, and their differences between settings and stories. I alliterate acceptably and write well.

I cannot fish. I have given up the hobby as I seem to be unable to catch fish in the mouth, instead hooking them in rather nasty places like eyes, tails, and sides. Don't ask how, I do not know. What I do know is that it seems overly cruel of me to do so to things that I don't even like to eat so I stopped.

I consider myself to be a pretty decent writer. I mean, I'd have to be since I intend on making a career out of it.

I don't have any theoretical knowledge about graphic design but that said I'm relatively decent with Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro and can whip up some fairly okay graphics work.

I'm also not bad at figuring out unfamiliar technical interfaces and I have a good memory for small details, i.e. things you'd wonder where you've seen or heard them before, chances are I can tell you if I'm familiar with them.

I also have some leftover basic knowledge about English phonetics. I failed that class once and had to sit through it another time so you better believe that stuff has etched itself into my brain. And I know a thing or two about how libraries and information research work.

I can always sense when a phone call is for me.

I understand computers and learn more every day.

I have many great plot ideas I won't give away because I'll be the one to make something of them.

Skilled in self-taught psychology.

I am more adaptable than others since I am comfortable outside the bounds of sanity.

Capable of extreme violence if necessary (unarmed, though I can make it messy if given a weapon, preferable a sword of some kind).

I like pie, bacon, potatoes, chocolate, ice cream, pudding, cobbler, steak, etc.

I can identify my skills at will.

None of the below may actually be true.

I have a basic knowledge of circuit troubleshooting.
I am relatively good at singing and writing, but have no gauge of what I am comparing myself to.
I wake up before I need to do something, even when I have no idea I need to do something until someone tells me a few moments after I am completely awake again.
I am unreasonably good at bullshitting like I know what I am talking about, and actually found myself to be unwittingly right on multiple occasions.
I have a fairly strong will built up from trying to overcome a fear of death and certain disorders.
I am reasonably good at making a budget
I live off a dubious morality that causes me to be difficult to shake.
I am capable of seeing a situation from more than just one point of view, and in fact actively seek out seeing it from as many standpoints as I can.
I can cook.

I am skilled with:
Nothing.

I'm unskilled but I'm improving my musicianship daily.

I have no skills and everything I do is worthless and useless.

Or so I've been told.

I speak Finnish.

While I don't drink I can get along with drunk people* which many, many people have wondered when it has been their time to be the driver.
*But there are still those wonderful guys in life we all know who should just go to fuck themselves. :|

I, like Blues, can program, but in Ruby, Python, and Java rather than C#, perl, and php. I can make websites too! It's fun stuff.

I also play the piano. I've been doing this with increasing frequency since I got one that I can play without annoying everyone else (headphones ftw). I've been playing Final Fantasy music.

I am mildly proficient at creative writing. I have quite a bit of historical knowlege (particuarly military history), and know a lot about economics, and, come to think of it, strategy in general. I'm interested in all branches of physics and am continuously expand my understanding thereof.

So, when do we combine our powers?

What exactly would come out of such an unholy union?

As far as I can predict, it would be some sort of weird book that screams a weird theme song made with farts every time you open it.

I'm okay at profiling people. My first impressions of people are usually spot on.
I'm a competent actor who remembers his lines, I write well enough to get A's on reports for books I haven't read, I can get girls to like me until they get to know me better, and I'm good with a rifle (less so with handguns).

I can run a teleprompter.

I can film and edit video pretty well.

I am apparently the only person in the world who can figure out how to fix an office copier jam.

I can ride a horse (western-style, never learned English-style.)

I can drive a horse-and-cart, but only with one horse pulling it.

I can't cook regular food, but I CAN make cookies. Awesome cookies.

I play a mean Soldier and Pyro in TF2. Decent enough Engie, too.

I can sort of play guitar. I own three of them: A six string acoustic, a twelve-string acoustic, and a six-string electric. The acoustics are technically my dad's...

I can sort of sew.

I can sort of draw.

So, we have all of these skills, what superweapon does Lev want us to build?

Obviously, we make a game. I can help with the Java, but I'm not as comfortable with it as I am with C#. Eclipse is a lifesaver, though.

He obviously wants to create an enhanced replica of the mythical Ultimortar Missile Emplacement. The programmers deal with targeting, chefs feed everybody, writers document progress and I do Public Relations for the project.

I have have an incredibly small attention span. You know how doctors will diagnose ADD and ADHD whenever a kid so much as fidgets?

I ain't one of those kids. I got it genuine, and I got it bad.

This goes into my talent. Focus, I have through sheer force of will managed to raise my focus to the epic proportions of a normal human being.

Also, I have a high skill retention, when I learn something it is mine. This led me to being able to do many things with mediocre results. These skills are best described as getting a D in school, not quite failing but sure as hell not something to show your parents.

That's quite interesting, I have about 3000 pages of notes dating back to 8th grade about about a game I have wanted to design ever since I played Final Fantasy Tactics. Over the years it has evolved due to influence of many other games I have had the pleasure of playing, such as Advance wars and Fire Emblem. Not to mention other sources of inspiration like Magic the Gathering.


I just lack the artistic merits to make art resources and my programing skill is just okay enough to understand 80% of what is going on if I read a program. It would take years of practice to get up the skills to code my monster of a game.

You could do negotiations on who we don't use the missile on. Perfect!!

I'm formally trained in quite a few art programs, including but not limited to Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut, Dreamweaver, Flash, and Maya.

I am pretty good around tools for traditional/3D art too, such as clay, band saws, power tools, wood burning tools, pencils, paints, etc etc.

I'm competent with a traditional camera and can develop and enlarge black and white photos in a dark room. Similarly, I know how to set up studio lighting, and how to use a fancy video camera with various microphones (boom mics, etc) and how to get those videos digital, how to green-screen, etc etc.

I know my way around art history pretty well too. Basically anything having to do with art, I'd probably have some sort of familiarity with.

There's other stuff, like German, and Japanese, and dance, and fencing, and music and such too, but I think that's enough.

I solve problems.

But yeah, I'm an engineering major so I build things and do science.

I can draw decently, process and color things digitally, photoshop and generally do computer things to pictures pretty well.

I play the piano.

I can play amtgard with the best of them.

I have quite a bit of roleplaying experience on both sides of the table, DM and player, mostly in DnD 3.5, and on a related note I'm a pretty decent writer.

I'm a pretty good cook.

I can enjoy ska unironically.

I'm good at climbing things.

I can wiggle my ears!

I'm also currently trying very hard to build up my nostril flaring abilities. Results have been moderate so far, but I'm still working on endurance.

I can pretty much speed eat. Not enough hot dog competitions around here though.

If I feel like posting something to get an answer from it I generally like to know what topics will be worth posting on what forums.

To contribute:

I know martial arts, fitness, nutrition, FIRE, fire arts, dance, circus arts, fire fighting, medicine, EMR, weaponry and armor both tactic and construction, roleplaying (mainly 3.5), games, wheeled manual transportation, spirituality/mythology/religion, and a mishmash of other topics.

Partly because Meister's link is not as awesome as mine, and partly because all I'm totally inebriated and forgotten what "pre..." whatever means, I think you mean this:

I suppose, being skilled with: would make being skilled at pretty useful.

Also, I had no talents to add to this thread, but if Azisien can list wiggling his ears, I can list touching my nose with my tongue. I can do that, yo. Anything else... any talent I may have is completely overcome by my laziness. Like, "sleep 16 hours a day if I can" laziness. Not that I can say I'd have any particular talents without that.

I have several relevant degrees. (Ok, just one. Whatever.)

I have the moral flexibility, fiscal irresponsibility and government training necessary to kill for money.

I can rebuild a radar system with plastic screwdrivers and a hammer. (And uh, like magnetrons and stuff.)

I am a master of the japanese art of Karaoke.

I have a strong knack for accurate profiling. I can figure out some people's personalities fully after observing them for about 10 minutes. I currently have a prediction with one of my mother in law's friends as to how/when he will lose his job. We'll find out if I'm right come September.

I'm good at finding things on the internet.

I'm very good at forming contingency plans. Typically if I intend for something to happen I have at least three back up plans just in case.

I'm a good actor but terrible at memorization. I would excel in a setting like Who's Line is it Anyway and apply this skill well during roleplaying games.

Stuff I'm skilled enough at to mention:
kendo
basic military conduct and combat tactics and usage of equipment
biology and related to which; basic lab & field work
basic survival skills (in nature)

Stuff I think I'm skilled enought at to mention:
accurately profiling people
lying

Language skills:
fluent finnish, spanish and english
enough japanese to have a conversation
basics of swedish and german

In addition I've played several sports for a short while and I fiddle around with my guitar at times. Also I'm a history buff. And I have some experience with (small scale) politics and representative duties.

5 Years of photoshop and mixed media arts including body art.
2.5 years of full time dance and body study that lead into 9 months of full time tai chi application.
Mentored for social, emotional, mental and physical 4th dimensional analytics towards bodywork and how to heal all of those things-- sort of like neo-shamanism without all the "energy work" stuff.
Good knowledge of taoism and how it actually applies. (Relative)

I'm going to throw in the skill of telling long, tedious stories about myself to illustrate a point about someone else at the drop of a hat. I'm kinda proud of that.

I can mock you.

I can stare into the abyss of the Internet, at the horrors contained within, and shrug at them, unfazed.

I have other skills, but they are essentially useless behind those two.

I want proof Mike. Mock me. Mock me proper.

I believe that it is no longer necessary at this point.

I am a proficient small vessel operator; high angle/altitude rescuer; lifeguard; first aider; first aid instructor; high altitude challenge course lead facilitator; lifesaving instructor; flatwater canoe instructor; flatwater kayak instructor; small sailboat skipper; wilderness outtripping leader.

I do things.

I speak French and play the saxophone (those are kind of a given).
I can face paint and make balloon animals because of my old job.
I can never forget the original pitch of a song.
I can whistle between my teeth, unnoticed.
I can fish. I can kinda draw and paint.
I have an enormous amount of patience (you really need to be trying your best to actually piss me off).

I have a lot of raw talent as a marksmen with basically anything even thrown objects to some degree.

I know enough math and physics to potentially end the world given the right resources.

I theoretically have the skills and knowledge needed to kill someone bare handed. I mean I've learned a lot about the human body and its weaknesses in the course of training mainly it the form of "Don't do this while training cause it can kill someone."

With a little practice and luck I can usually translate theory into physical skill. Like the time I jumped a cue ball while playing pool almost entirely on accident.

I habitually twink and have a habit of finding the weaknesses in any rule set without really meaning to. I guess that makes me a great play tester.

Oh and I'm apparently part moth. Any cloth I touch is doomed to rips, tears, or just plain holes for no apparent reason. If I could speed it up significantly it'd be a great party trick.
