Doc's Getting a 3ds- Suggest games for him to play
For the first time in a while I'm buying a new console and finding that Vita is dead (year and a half without a US release) I'm gonna go with the 3ds. Thing is I don't know what games would be good for me
I want games that are

Well, if you haven't gotten Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii the first time it came out, it's coming out for the 3DS; so that option is good for an awesome RPG. It's probably not out yet, but it's definately something to get in the future.
Unfortunately that's all the games I know of aside from the pokemon series that doesn't violate one of your rules. I should note that only the "New 3DS" will be able to play it. Yes, there is a different 3DS model, and you won't be playing some of the new games that's coming out without it. Unfortunately, this means Xenoblade Chronicles too. |
Fire Emblem

A Link Between Worlds, and Ocarina Of Time if you haven't played it before, are universally praised. Fire Emblem Awakening too can be played for any length of time.
I don't know your mileage with pokemon games, but 3DS now has two main-series pokemon RPGs to choose from. You might also be well-served getting a nintendo eshop card and looking through the download titles, since the Shantae games are worth the lower cost of entry. |
Oh if you like old school JRPGs and job class systems get Bravely Default
|
If you don't get Smash Bros I will fight you.
If you do get it I will also fight you. Kid Icarus Uprising is also good for train rides and marathons alike, but be sure to take breaks to rest your hand. |
guh the new 3ds throws a wrench in my plans ill have to fucking wait. sigh

Meh, besides Xenoblade Chronicles, I haven't heard much about new games that will require the New 3DS (what an awful, awful name for a console by the way).
As far as games, I had similar tastes in wanting to get games that are easy to pick up and play but also can be played for longer if desired. With that in mind: Fire Emblem Awakening (probably my favorite 3DS game, absolute must-buy if sRPGs are your thing, mission-based gameplay is very pick-up-and-play). Super Mario 3D Land Mario Kart 7 Donkey Kong Returns 3D (really challenging and fun if you liked the old Donkey Kong Country games) Sm4sh Bros Professor Layton series Pokemon XY/Omega Ruby/Sapphire Animal Crossing (possibly if you like this sort of game) 999/Virtue's Last Reward (cross between Puzzle/Visual Novel game, REALLY REALLY GOOD) Also, you should probably get a 3DS XL unless you have small hands. I bought the XL and found the normal 3DS to be way too small for me to use. And even then, you can expect to get hand cramps because Nintendo seems to be shit at making comfortable hardware recently. |
So the N3DS is finally hitting stateside. And comes in Red and Black. However it's only the XL model. And it doesn't come with a charger and will still cost the same price as a old XL.... And they actually expect the N3DSXL to bring in new players, when you need a charger to play it. Sad part is the preorders are flying off the selves by the thousands so they actually are getting away with it thanks to previous 3DS owners upgrading to it.
Nintendo of America, everybody... I'll probably still end up buying one eventually though. Anyway, I'd recommend trying out the Shantae games (3 good Metriodvania/Zelda-ish titles) and Mighty Switch Force games (two fairly sold puzzle platformers). |
I haven't pre ordered (seeing that out here there are 3 game shops with too much stock and too little people) but I am excited for the 13th of February (yay being single)
Also How can they sell a system without a charger? |
