Doc's Getting a 3ds- Suggest games for him to play

For the first time in a while I'm buying a new console and finding that Vita is dead (year and a half without a US release) I'm gonna go with the 3ds. Thing is I don't know what games would be good for me

I want games that are

Easy to pick up and play in a small downtime as well as good for marathons.
Preferably something longer then an average 8 hour game (or if it is short it could be that it can be played over and over again (sorry AA. Love you but you're normally rental fodder for me))
Preferably something I can play in public without people giving me weird looks.
I don't mind RPGs but I often don't do 100% completion on them.
