It's less of a reason and more of an excuse made up at the spot. For some reason, he's still hiding the fact he's worshipping Chaos because his lifelong goal is to destroy the world, starting and ending with the other LWs. Which is sort of pointless seeing how he keeps saying it out loud.
But then again, they all seem to forget things like that pretty fast. Like Thief's little "asides." Maybe all that amnesia dust really works.
