I am disappointed, my good Thadius. I would have though that
you of all people would have more faith in the Fire-type starter. Or did you forget that it evolves into a Fighting-type with access to Double Kick right off the bat?
As for the gameshark codes, I had not thought of that! Dunno if Beldum, as I already have Aryll for my Psychic-type, and I'm not overly fond of Steel in a game full of Pokemon that abuse the hell out of Earthquake. I may consider bumping up one or two Water-types, or picking up a Trapinch WAY early.
I can normally function well leaving gaps, but sometimes I do pick up a temporary member (I grabbed a Girafarig in my copy of Platinum when it became apparent that I didn't have the patience to grind happiness for an Espeon, and then opted to remove it in favor of covering for something else (can't seem to remember what, as it's been a week since I've played it).
As I've said, Slakoth is next on my list (it will be oh so fun to write him). I do plan on keeping Aryll around (Ken's a no-brainer: I have this rule where I have to play through the game with my starter. I only ever break it once I hit metagame in my Gen IV games.) As far as the Water-type is concerned... I've been thinking about a Marill. But then I may just as well NOT use one... because the LAST time I played through Emerald I ended up relying on Rollout WAY TOO MUCH. But damn, was it fun to troll with. If you call wasting NPC trainers/boss trainers troll-worthy. I dunno, I'll figure it out.
