Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero is a good, old-school style platformer.

Hacking your PSP at this stage in its life is practically a bad thing to do anyway, since right now having a hacked PSP means you can't play some of the absolute newest games, have to install various fiddly plugins with unclear instructions that may or may not work anyway, and plus since you have a 3000 hacking it would require you spending money or risking a battery, so I wouldn't recommend it even if you could do it.
As for games, if you like Gundams and action I recommend importing yourself a copy of Gundam vs Gundam Next. It supports Ad Hoc Party, has a full single-player campaign and supports up to 4 players for arena-based Gundam blasting fun. If you want RPGs Riviera is an oddball example of an RPG, with no traditional XP system, adventure-game style exploration and an item system that gives its characters different attacks and actions with the same weapon. I think there's also a version of Yggdra Union, an SRPG, on the PSP too. Also if you want a River City Ransom-ish action RPG, get yourself Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble. The idea is that you, an angry aspiring "bancho" from a Japanese prefecture of your choosing goes on a school trip with the aim of beating the shit out of all the other banchos over 7 days to become the strongest bancho in Japan. There's decent character customisation, with the ability to customise every one of your guy's attacks and give him a hilarious hair boner hairstyle and pin striped shirt for example, open-ended gameplay that lets you go along with your classmates or ditch them to further your aim of being the strongest bancho, or just bum around the shopping malls making your guy look as silly or as badass as possible. You may want to reconsider Monster Hunter Freedom United. It fits closer into the action rpg style rather than traditional rpg, as there are no true levels, no special attacks (you are capable of preforming every move you can do from start to finish). The only thing that progresses truly like a level is your armor, weapons, and skill. My girlfriend hates traditional rpgs with a passion, but loves this game to death.
Only catch to the game is that its better with other people. Xlinkkai or a PS3 can solve that (both will allow you to tunnel the signal through the internet to lan with other people). Everything in the game can be killed by yourself, but its just bloody fun having someone to watch your back. If you don't have a friend to play it with, I would still strongly suggest downloading the demo. If you do have a friend that wants to try it to, this then turns into pretty much a must buy. |

Me: But I don't like RPG games.
Everyone else: No, but really you'll like these. Me: But! Everyone else: Shut up & do what we say... Are we up to speed now? Good? Good. So, lets try a different tack. Could anyone recommend a good case to hold my PSP? I'd like something that has a pocket to hold the outlet plug, as well as a space for the TV cable I bought (shipping was more than what I paid. And on the PSP 3000, I can plays games on a big screen). If it can hold games in addition to all that, that's also a plus. SWB - I don't really care about space for mem cards.

Just checked some more PSN games. Not sure if these are all available for the PSP though.
You have the first three Resident Evils. The first two Abe's Oddworld games. If you haven't heard of it, it is a platformer series that became a Xbox exclusive when the the Xbox came out. First two games came out in the PSX era and were multiplatform titles. Was pretty damn good too. MediEvil was a lot of fun from what I remember, it was from what I remember sort of like Zelda crossed with Gauntlet and Diablo. My memory is vague on this one though, other than that it was pretty enjoyable so take that description witha grain of salt. There's also a couple of Ape Escape games for the PSP. Not sure of the quality of the PSP ones(haven't got them) but the PS2 ones were pretty great platformers, probably the best ones not on a Nintendo system since Sega died.

First: Sorry! I'm one of those 'everyone else'. I apologize for any frustration we've given you.
Explanation: I think the main issue is that the PSP has good graphics, but is small and thus difficult to focus in on too much for heavily action-oriented games. At least, that's my conclusion based off of growing experience. Also, I think that "RPG" has enough 'normal' elements that we all assume(d) you're talking about the 'generic' kind and were recommending those we thought you might like that weren't so 'typical'. I can't actually speak for everyone else, of course, but I know that's the gist of what I was thinking. As for a case: I don't use mine for my PSP anymore ('tis used as my dice-bag now) but the GameStop "official" PSP Kit is both comprehensive and durable. As a case for the PSP (and as a dice bag) it has withstood alot of punishment and saved my system a few times - even now it's in pretty good shape, especially considering the stuff it's been through. It has plenty of 'pockets' (the kind that are made of netting) inside the protective soft-shell which is good too... sort of. I'm not certain that any of the myriad of pockets are large enough in and of themselves, however. I found that space cramped and never used it - I just zipped cords and stuff inside however they would lay down flat. The PSP case cannot hold games, however, the official GameStop stuff that I got came with a game-case; it's a flip-case that holds up to eight games. It's really durable, but I'm not sure it's worth the expense. Speaking of expense, all this stuff came with my PSP when I got it, so I don't know how much this is - I don't work for GameStop I swear! It's just what I've had and my own experiences.

As long as this doesn't work like Ad-Hoc Party(As in wired connections or bust), I will love you forever.
Need some Dissidia multiplayer! D: On topic, the Prinny game is fuck-all hard. There's a reason I call it Prinny: I Wanna Be The Dood. |

Well to be honest SWB there isn't much in the way of platformers for the PSP as far as I know. If you want those then you'd probably be better suited to a DS. It seems to be the system of portable RPGs really.

Not sure if you'd call Kingdom Hearts an RPG, as it seems far more action oriented, but if you've ever played Kingdom Hearts... get Birth By Sleep. Supposed to be pretty good. I know, I know, SWB does not like RPG, but like I said, it's hard to pay attention to levels when you're too busy swinging your giant key around bashing in some skulls.
