Yeah, that's not even a little what I said. The point I was trying to make was that being a dick to him won't make him stop being a dick. I've dealt with homophobes before, and demeaning them just makes them feel more secure in thinking that gays don't deserve rights. I'm not sure how to break through to them, but this isn't the way.

I'm basically of the opinion that trying to make nice with homophobes is an exercise in futility. As SMB said, they aren't logical. Everything about that side is steeped heavily in "Well, God told me so" or "Gays are icky." Yeah, they'll use being treated rudely to reinforce their views, but they're going to use anything they can to reinforce their views. Trying to change their mind about all that just isn't going to work. I'm also about as interested in treating that particular kind of jackass nicely as I am in getting my kneecaps smashed with a golf club. (Not at all)

Guess what, everyone everywhere gets defensive when their shitty irrational views are challeneged, even when they're challenged with the most maximum levels of reasonabilitude and ratiomanality, because people don't like having their shitty irrational views challenged. The only way to not have them get all defensive is to never challenge them about it, which is a good way to ensure that lots of people keep going around being maximum 100% secure in their shitty irrational views. The only way to actually get past that defensiveness that is to, you know, keep right challenging them no matter how defensive they get about it, in whichever way, and maybe eventually one way or another to get through. Mockery is just as valid a tool of persuasion and just as likely to succeed as any other way to do it and that isn't gonna change because you decide to jump on people's nuts about it because you happen to dislike that kind of thing or because you've decided there has to be One True Way to convince everybody of anything or whatever your deal is here.

But the only real way to work it out is to make whichever kind of argument you think should be made to the people who need confronting about their prejudiced views and seeing if it works, not jumping on people who AGREE with you because you've decided their way is the False Path, and yours the Way of Light and Truth.

On a serious note, for those who think gay guys don't hit on straight guys, you obviously don't know anyone who likes to think of themselves as "turners." They're about as legit as the dumb-ass frat guys who talk about how they could fuck any chick at a party they wanted. Essentially, and in most cases exactly, the two make the same argument.

It's not all gays, in the same way that I don't treat women to the same stupidity those frat guys do. But there are some bigoted, moronic, ignorant, and intolerant people on both sides. Unfortunately, it's usually the people who make their voices heard, thinking that unless they oppose the one thing, they cannot truly support the other. Like straight people having to oppose gay rights to feel better about being straight. Or the reverse.

Frankly, the only reason I don't think the OP is funny, and I damn well hope it's a joke and not an ignorant call for strife, is because people aren't secure enough, or in most cases, smart enough to understand it. Making the joke only provokes a stupid, pointless backlash of rancor and ignorance. But what else is Facebook for, but making pointless, irritating, asinine groups to join in a desperate attempt to advertise our opinions?

Then again, the only people I have to deal with are the bitches in San Francisco on both sides of the argument, so what do I know? Balls to it, I'm going back to Mars. Apathetic bloody planet. I've no sympathy at all.
