I don't know about excuses, but I 'eagerly' await the count on how many people commit suicide when they realize it didn't happen after completely fucking their lives over it. People have quit their jobs, given away their savings, alienated family members and friends, etc.

I'm as cool with making fun of this as the next person, but there's something in the back of my head that says Camping should probably be charged with something over it. I mean that's some straight up evil shit when you start to think about the consequences it has had on the people gullible/crazy/stupid/whatever enough to believe in it, and, possibly worse, their families who may be entirely innocent of such stupidity.
