Like for all their pretentious bullshit, I figured they would at least have decent coffee. I mean, they sell bags of it for people to take home.
But I just got a cup and this is like the worst goddamn coffee. This tastes like poorly brewed grocery-store-brand crap. What the fuck, starbucks. Tangentially related: I'd intended to avoid getting addicted to caffeine. And then college was like "haha fuck you seven am class" And I'm like "Whelp. :I" And here we are. |

Caffeine addiction is easy to beat. I do it like every other month. You just sleep for three days and have yourself a headache and then you're back to normal.
And that's all I have to say about that.

Here in Ontario you can buy coffee from Tim Hortons, Tim Hortons, Tim Hortons, or occasionally Starbucks if one happens to be nearby.
Tim Hortons tastes like shit, Starbucks is usually pretty good even if it's more expensive and/or pretentious. And a regular, plain coffee (which is what I usually order) actually isn't that much more expensive. Personally, I think the cheaper alternatives are overpriced because the quality is so horrible. Cheap coffee = pre ground coffee dumped into a filter and brewed into a decanter where it gets burnt really quickly Expensive coffee = fresh ground coffee brewed at the right temperature in a properly calibrated machine and stored in a thermos where it stays hotter longer and doesn't get burnt However, I don't buy coffee regularly- I usually brew it at home. That's the cheapest way to do it, and the easiest way to ensure quality control. Edit: I forgot to mention that McDonalds changed their coffee recipe recently and it's actually really good- at least it is here. Not sure about where you are, TDK. Back when I was still in high school and decided a pretentious addiction to coffee was a proper way of living I used to grind down my own beans for quality control. Even got my dad to get a proper coffee maker. Nothing fancy but it got me by. These days I don't often get a chance to fill the urge beyond crap galley coffee and Starbucks which is passable unless I want it black. If I had my own place I'd be spoiling myself again. Likely will if I ever escape this hellhole.

Instant Coffee: Better than the swill served at most coffee shops.

Dunkin' Donuts.
That is, unless I guess you live in the South. In which case, what the fuck are you doing over there, come to New England. |

I'm perfectly fine with Starbucks. Granted I don't drink coffee very often, but Starbucks is a HUGE step up from Tim Hortons. In fact, getting coffee from Tim Hortons always felt like a gamble. "Will I get a fresh pot of decent coffee? Will I get the last bit of a pot? Will I get the last bit of a pot that's been sitting there for 30 minutes (even though they are supposed to dump it after 15)? Will I get a pot that has coffee sitting for 10 minutes mixed with coffee sitting for 15 minutes mixed with a little bit of fresh coffee?"
At least Starbucks is consistent. And I always drink my coffee black, so the price difference is negligible to me (it's like what, $1.40 for a medium at Tim Hortons? And at Starbucks it's $2.10 I believe) and in fact I'm okay with paying more for the consistency. |

</pedant> I am a former Timmy's Ho. IMO it doesn't make much of a difference because it tastes like crap as soon as it hits the decanter. >_> <_< I also like being able to fix the sugar and milk in my coffee instead of relying on someone else to do it, which also contributes to the inconsistency. |
