I'll point out that I don't consider this a career. I *utterly suck* at programming. I'm just not organized enough, nor do I possess enough passion for it. I'm only doing it to kill time, and LordJ's editor is fairly easy to use.

I don't know what her name is in the Japanese version or what the intended pronunciation of her name was in the US release, but I've always pronounced it "Sell-less." As in, "Celestial." Although I've never noticed this before, this does seem to fall in line with Squaresoft's naming scheme for its main characters. It also serves to play against the other female protaganist: Terra=Earth, Celes=Sky. |

Look I know I suck at drawing kana. Not the point. This is the hiragana for "SE," the katakana for "RI" (pronounced "ree") and the katakana for "SU," whose "u" sound is silent. "SERISu" That sounds like Celise to me. And furthermore! This is a similarly self-blaming and self-punishing character named "Lise" in Seiken Densetsu 3 (the unreleased sequel to Secret of Mana). I told you, where there's coffee, there's research. SIDE NOTE: Feeding this post through the Google Translator from English to Japanese and back again twice somehow seemed funny, so I'm going to go get some sleep before I collapse into a pile of my constituent elements.

I'm pretty sure we can safely say, "FUCK KATAKANA."
So that's one argument against Serisu.

... hell, I haven't played a fresh run of this in so long I've forgotten, but doesn't Gau start with Stray Cat? At the very least I remember it being one of the earliest rages you can get. Guard Leader was another good one. |

It's a real easy one to get, but I can't remember if he has it to begin with...
But yeah, Stray Cat and Marshal are really all Gau needs before you leave the Veldt the first time. Of course, even if you're not doing Wind God Gau, giving Gau the Master's Scroll is never a bad idea. Another early favorite of mine is to pick up the Destroyer rage after the Magitek Research Facility. Who doesn't love to have Reraise before the World of Ruin? Of course, late-game rages can get pretty awesome. Magic Pot, Holy Dragon, Great Behemoth, Tonberry, Yojimbo... |

Also, just saying, that "se" is pronounced "say" so it still doesn't sound like "cell"-anything, if we're being picky. Phonetics!
