Default Grand Theft Auto 5: The Most Terrifying Canadian

There's just so fucking much to do, like the whole in game internet alone is staggering. And they fixed all the shit from GTA4 with the stupid floaty driving and the shooting is more Max Payne/Red Dead. The characters are all well written and interesting.

The only real nitpicks are well the humour and a lot of the content (strip clubs, hookers) is pretty obviously aimed at like 14 year old boys, which given other games of it's ilk aiming for a bit more mature and general audience it's a little sad to see GTA not growing up. And that vehicular combat is still a mess especially when compared to say Sleeping Dogs. Still pretty solidly a 9/10 game though.

The heists in particular are amazing and it's easy to see why they were one of the main advertising points of the game. Also I laughed my ass off at how Franklin can get the cops called on him for just hanging around in one spot too long in a white neighbourhood. Realistic and biting social commentary, good stuff. Too bad much of the rest of the humour falls a bit flat.

Also cougars are back and as dangerous as ever, so uh watch out for those.

Disagree strongly with the complaints about the major characters, both the PCs and the major NPCs are well written and engaging, and often funny. Basically the humour that involves the PCs directly interracting with somebody or something usually works (Trevor's more hit and miss than the others though) but the stuff on the radio, on ads, on the internet outside of Lifeinvader or Bleeter (which are usually pretty funny) or just randomly yelled by pedestrians is usually kinda tacky.

Disagree entirely with the PCs being unempathisable, even Trevor is kinda fascinating in a macabre way (though I can understand him at least alienating people, the complaint doesn't hold much water with Franklin or Michael though). Also the complaints about the switch mechanic leading to railroading and a lack of sandbox play are kinda mindbogglingly stupid.

Basically whoever wrote the review was pretty seriously thin skinned and didn't even really hit the real complaints (juvenile sense of humour they got but no mention of the outdated vehicular combat and the real noticeable focus on male players which is a little bewildering cause sandbox crime games are in my experience one of the more equal genres as far as player ratio goes).

Edit: I feel I should also bring up it's just generally archaic in vehicular stuff in general, the garage system is bogus and it lack a lot of the fun stuff Saints Row and Sleeping Dogs pioneered. It's still good enough though, just kind of a pain. I brought up vehicular combat particularly cause it's a total mess and basically worse than Saints Row 1's. That's 1.

Default Grand Theft Auto V

Can you marry a video game? I've certainly been going steady with this one.

I wasn't quite prepared for this step. While I had a semi-long-term commitment to Grand Theft Auto, our relationship was always somewhat open, and I admit I had some rocky times with Grand Theft Auto IV. I've even experimented a bit with GTA's sister, Saint's Row.

But now, when I drive down the boulevard with GTA V, in a convertible, with the Alan Parsons Project playing in my ears...it just feels like it's time to take that final step and admit my true feelings.

So, here it is: I love you, Grand Theft Auto V. And I always want to play you.

This is the thread about how you want to make a lifelong commitment to an inanimate object. Completely different. Especially after three or four beers.

I've been sandboxing it up a lot, with all three characters unlocked I see no issues with why it makes you "railroaded". Only early on are there consistent spots where you feel like you're forced to play as one for a significant length of time (Trevor for the most part). The humor is juvenile but it got me to laugh so it succeeded.

I'm somewhat disappointed because there was a rumor there was the Kavinsky song "Nightcall" in this game but it appears to be absent. Also I don't think there's any Supertramp songs but, I'm pretty sure, two Bob Seger songs, which...anyway, definite emphasis on soft rock I think.

EDIT: Also the Chicago song is If You Leave Me Now and ISN"T 25 or 6 to 4, so, again, I have to ask: was the licensing too much or something?

So now that GTA Online seems to actually work half the time, does anyone want to make a Nuklear crew?
