Guess what, everyone everywhere gets defensive when their shitty irrational views are challeneged, even when they're challenged with the most maximum levels of reasonabilitude and ratiomanality, because people don't like having their shitty irrational views challenged. The only way to not have them get all defensive is to never challenge them about it, which is a good way to ensure that lots of people keep going around being maximum 100% secure in their shitty irrational views. The only way to actually get past that defensiveness that is to, you know, keep right challenging them no matter how defensive they get about it, in whichever way, and maybe eventually one way or another to get through. Mockery is just as valid a tool of persuasion and just as likely to succeed as any other way to do it and that isn't gonna change because you decide to jump on people's nuts about it because you happen to dislike that kind of thing or because you've decided there has to be One True Way to convince everybody of anything or whatever your deal is here.

you are directly equivocating making prejudiced and nonsensical remarks about gay people, as being the same in kind as... responding with incredulity and mockery to prejudiced and nonsensical remarks about gay people. Which is to say, exactly what I characterized your earlier post as being.

Just so it is completely clear, I am sure that some people with prejudiced views will in fact be totally convinced of the wrongness of their views by the right rational, reasoned argument! Just as I am sure that other such people will be convinced by just the right style of viciously pointed mockery, while yet other people will only be convinced by some prolonged combination of the two. But the only real way to work it out is to make whichever kind of argument you think should be made to the people who need confronting about their prejudiced views and seeing if it works, not jumping on people who AGREE with you because you've decided their way is the False Path, and yours the Way of Light and Truth.
