Default Prototype 2: Murder everyone AGAIN

Trailer

I LOVED the original Prototype, but this trailer looks iffy. Graphics look the same (ie: unimpressive), gameplay looks the same but for a few improvements (though I'm sure there would be lots of new powers and stuff, but that's hardly innovation), character seems either like a douche or exactly the same as Alex Mercer...

The website previously known as Murder Your Maker has now metamorphosed into Prototype 2, indicating that that game will be out in 2012 - but not mentioning anything about formats (although it's almost certainly Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3).

The footage from the trailer looks very similar to the first game, which makes it even more surprising that there's going to be a sequel at all. The original received largely mediocre reviews and sales and was generally deemed inferior to Radical Entertainment's previous game The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction - to which Prototype was something of a spiritual sequel.

The idea of playing as a new character certainly seems a positive change though, as you fight against, rather than as, hoodie-wearing sociopath Alex Mercer. The new game is still set in New York City and will cast you as Sergeant James Allen, who has decided that, 'to kill a monster, you must become a monster'.
This just makes me mad. I liked Alex Mercer. He is probably one of my favorite video game characters simply because he is unapologetically an utter sociopath, even before his transformation.

What do you guys think? I'm on the fence. I really don't want to kill Alex Mercer, but beyond that, I played the shit out of the original, so I don't know that I really want more of the same. Its even in the same place...
