I'm actually going to buy Okami the next time I order a game off Amazon because of spoilers I read for it this week. I just gotta figure out something else (that I haven't already pre-ordered) to get with it so I can get free shipping.

I spoil most stuff by myself. Mostly when I go to tvtropes and start reading and reading...and reading. My RL friends are nice enough not to spoil things for me . And you guys, sometimes spoil things but luckily for me it's not from games I want to play, or am already playing.

Default But I survive.

I'm pretty damn good at yelling at people if I think they are in the process of or will be revealing a spoiler that I don't want to know, so I've avoided them unless I have actively sought them out myself. Man, I don't know how people can sit back and let that happen -- and I know there are situations where it just happens, I'm not talkin' about that. I had a friend sit there and stare at me as I made a Snape Kills Dumbledore joke during one of the movies [we had rented it as I had still not seen it; they had seen them all and, as far as I know still, own the books] while his girlfriend - who knew the joke and the spoiler - and he let it happen -- I mean, the build-up to the punchline was very obvious, as I was aiming for lame.

A side effect is that sometimes I can't/won't read threads here even though I feel like I should as per my responsibilities. It's a conundrum!

To show off the battle system, a friend loaded up a copy of KotOR 1 that was right before the final set of speeches with the main villain. At this point in time, I'd heard a lot of good things about KotOR, but didn't have an XBox and so hadn't bothered playing it. The speech wouldn't have really spoiled anything for me, had my friend not freaked out upon realizing the villain calls you by your name. So yeah, I wouldn't have caught on (Or really remembered it), unless my friend hadn't reacted the way he had; kinda ruined KotOR's story for me, but I never ended up caring about the story and have more fun abusing the battle system so it all worked out for me.

Actually though, I've been pretty lucky avoiding spoilers for most games. Like, I know most of the spoilers for Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, but I've yet to actually play those so I don't consider it a problem >.>

Edit: WAIT I JUST THOUGHT OF ONE. Kingdom Hearts 2. I was a member of some forum right around the time KH2 got released, and there was one asshole who's sig read GOOFY DIES AT THE END OF KINGDOM HEARTS 2. Now anybody who's played this game knows that something VERY similar to this happens mid-way through the game, but that he gets better. I played through the game, dredding every single cutscene near the end of the game because I was afraid this was going to happen and I would be mad.

Yeah, I sometimes get spoilers, erm, spoiled before I play the game. FFX, Bioshock, SotC, inFamous, etc, but it doesn't really bother me strangely.

The only times I haven't had stuff spoiled was for Heavy Rain and the ending of Half Life 2; Ep 2, which are prety much the greatest plot twists in gaming, so it's all good.

I'm pretty sure that happened with Shadow of the Colossus, at least for the very ending of the game. I don't mind, though, since Shadow of the Collossus is fantastic.
This. This is me. I see a spoiler box for a game I'm currently playing, I'm on opening that like Pandora. I also tend to get information from game-specific wikis and as you can imagine that makes it a lot worse.

I don't mind it all that much, though, even when I end up knowing all the main plot twists in advance I just keep watch for how they set things up, and that's fun as well. Or to put it another way, if an entire game stops being worth playing just because you know one plot point, it's probably not that great a game to begin with.

(Although I'd argue Bioshock is an exception to that - great game either way but not knowing it in advance makes it much better still.)

I had a friend completely spoil Mother 3 for me. Like out of spite, he has never even played the game before. He looked up the spoilers on the internet cause I mentioned trying to stay spoiler free.

Then as I am playing the game, running through the burning forest he busts in my room yelling " HINAWA DIES, CLAUS DIES, PORKY IS THE PIG KING, CLAUS IS THE MASKED MAN, FASAAD IS THE LAST..."

He never got that last bit out cause I hit him in the face with a complete copy of the Lord of the Rings.

I've never been too bothered by spoilers. If some amazing twist is going to happen, KOTOR's famous twist for example, and I know about it in advance I feel great about the build up to something I already know is going to happen. To me, if the game was too relient on the twist itself and doesn't stand up to a second playthrough to enjoy the plot a second time, then it just wasn't a good plot.

I'm pretty sure at this point Bulbapedia had changed the face of Pokemon gaming forever. Back when I was playing the old Gen I games we didn't have some crazy website that gave so much detailed info about the game we were playing that each and every step we took along each route was analyzed and documented. I find it really hard now that I'm finally moving forward with the newer games to play for more than an hour without siting next to my computer with that stupid site open telling me where every thing is and how it all works. I've not had a singe surprise yet since I started Fire Red because every Route is mapped out to the Nth degree.
