This is really thin ice. Because, as a company you don't want to send out the message of "Don't mess with the pirates, they are invincible", and also... they are in the right to look at any options they can to protect their products.
It's just that... their solutions so far just instigates that center of the Hacker community that doesn't really give a damn about the game, they just want their hands on the new Anti-Piracy technology so they can be the first ones to break it. The problem is that the consequence of that is the Vulnerable carcass of the game floating online for millions to download it for free. So, really... what's a company to do? From a simple basic point of view, the fact is that Consoles are safer than PC for most games, unless those who heavily use online feature. Pc is also a more expensive platform for gaming, because of the constant Upgrades you have to do each year. Really, if you're honest about it... the one strong bone PC has over Consoles is the Modding and Machina Communities. Over time i think that it will just be this... Consoles will get it first, get it more, and PC will get it less and last, but if they make the games with their communities at mind, eventually the PC versions can grow to be richer experiences. Really, i don't know what else they could do aside from actually Trolling the Internet bombing it with Thousands of fake leaks filled with Bugs and Virus..... |
