Yeah, exactly, I mean I physically was incapable of winning it considering I wasn't born when the Atari was running this thing.

If I just happened to possess it cause I bought the company like that dick Tourino...there's a serious part of me that would try to give it back to the ones who deserve it.

It really isn't feasible anymore. That's what's so ultimately tragic.

Maybe I'm ignorant of some colossally important fact here, but wouldn't having a larger audience of gamers make something like this more feasible, not less?

I mean, its not like a lot of people would post riddle answers online since they'd want the prizes for themselves.

You underestimate spoiler whores. Someone, somewhere, will do it.

Maybe you couldn't do the exact same contest again... but these days, you don't have too. Make pre-orders give you a ticket for a special tournament, or just use online leaderboards and a timeframe to set a winner.

Yeah, but then that's just getting points. The Swordquest thing was like an honest-to-goodness quest.

could make it the result of skill. Rigid timeframes. Like, 'log onto xbox live at 8pm and play gamemode quest. First one to solve the riddles wins'. This will increase sales as anyone with half a brain will want experience with the game first, setting a time makes it fair to those that didn't get their hands on it sooner, making it a special unlockable only available online at that time and making it first one wins, keeps people from posting it online since, if they know it they already won

Or just take it like the Skulls in Halo 3, they are hard to find, and each time you find one there is a Code or a Riddle, and you have to solve that. And you can add several riddles and different codes and make the game pick at random when you start, which could easily be updated via patch, adding more and new codes that would prevent people from posting all of them at once on the net.

You guys are seriously missing the big ones here.

This sort of thing just can't be done today. Gaming is entirely too dense of a population. Game companies are skeptical enough to even release trophies or exclusive content.

I mean look at Halo 3. They promised anyone the Recon armor if they finished all the Vidmaster Challenges. They were exceedingly fucking hard. People did it. Lots of them. Within, like, a week.

Putting it into "compete with others" just makes it a straight-up versus, which kind of defeats the whole 'quest' thing. Swordquest was a single-player journey with a time limit - tournaments are competitive head-to-head...well, competitions.

when I said time, I didn't mean "start date" I meant a single sitting. I know full well some super genius will blow through the puzzles in a timeframe beyond what most can ever hope. So why fight it. Make it something that lasts a day at most, probably just a few hours. My idea depends more on psychology of the average gamer, whether or not they will be happy for the oppertunity and event in and of itself.

You mean sorta like 1 vs 100? Yeah, I can see that happening.
