A lot of this is sounding more and more like you can't do it rather than you have any reason that it's objectively not viable.

I find that it relies too much on luck and everyone already knows how to counter it. I'll admit, I can't airblast perfectly when doing it because I have a split-second between seeing the rocket/'nade and airblasting it. But even if you know how to do it perfectly, there is a good chance that it ends up not working. Say you got the jump on a soldier and he's on fire and you airblast'd him...And he didn't rocket you. What do you do? You change to the ax and die when he finally shoots you? You back away, ready to airblast? Heck, I'm still gonna see a Soldier change to the Equalizer and insta-kill me when doing this, I'm sure.

though most people with the equalizer are idiots and will damage themselves to 20 health. Something a pyro can make short work of

I don't think I've seen a single soldier do that since...Two weeks after the WAR update. I DID have some troubles with the ones who keep changing back and forth to the equalizer and I can't heal them and they keep mashing E, though.

true story. I was a medic with Kritz on and i just got 100% I see a soldier low on health reloading his rocketlaucher so i try to kritz him. Just when i activate it He pulls out the Equalizer and charges forward to his death While I had to find the next closest person (a scout) to kritz up.

...That sucks.

But, yeah, I don't think I've seen one since then. I play mostly in Brazilian servers, maybe that's why.

I see them all the time. I actually used to do it whenever I was bored, but I crafted my Equalizer so I can't any more.
