Video Games Little Big Planet 2: Where Don gets depressed he just got LBP1.

Really, I have all the luck.

Still, the amount of stuff they are including makes up for it:

The sequel will be fully backwards compatible with all of the first game's content, so any currently created levels will be playable using the new tweaked graphics engine. But with Little Big Planet 2 will also come a multitude of additions to the pre-existing level creation tools, including the ability to design directly controlled vehicles, and sackbots -- non-player characters that are customizable in appearance as well as behavior. Users will also be able to condense previously large, space-consuming programmed behavior and switches onto tiny circuit chips. This will help free up physical space in each level, as well as make elaborate setups easily shareable between players.

The game will also include six new visual themes, the ability to record voice-overs, link multiple levels to one another, as well as access to new camera angles, allowing users to create just about any type of game they would want, from Space Invader clones, to racers, to levels consisting entirely of cinematic cut-scenes.

The recent press presentation for LBP2's reveal also showed off the game's new grapple hook. Using this device, sackboys and girls can hook onto turning wheels to be pulled up to faraway ledges, as well as swing over large expanses. Users can also latch onto objects to pull them down, and this, of course, includes other players, which causes some hilarious moments while trying to get through a level.

Alongside Little Big Planet 2's announcement is the official reveal of LBP.me, a social sharing website that will hopefully ameliorate the fairly frequent nitpick of not being able to easily separate the good user-generated levels from the bad and place a larger emphasis on the consumption of levels rather than just purely on their creation. Details are still somewhat vague, but users will be able to connect the site to their PSN IDs, letting them to look through levels using their browsers and queuing up levels to download when they later return to their PS3s. The site will also feature a Facebook-esque activity feed. (Images are of a non-finalized version of the site.)

There's already talk about different possible designs, including a Zelda clone.

I, for one, welcome the eventual slew of Batman levels.
