This may have been brought up before in a thread but I dunno. .I was just thinking about it due to the discussion on the new "Final Fantasy Discussion Thread"

Let's say hypothetically Brian had a massive change of heart and decided to continue 8-bit only base it on another FF.. and I had a change of heart and/or got stupid enough to volunteer to draw the whole thing.. which FF would be the best one to do?

Another rule is that it can only have at most three characters from the original 8-bit (doesn't matter which three).

Two would make most sense in continuity and apart from three, is the only place I can see FF1 sprites still fitting unless Matt, you voluteered your art. to wich it can all be adapted. Of coruse, I'm thinking in terms of DS/GBA-remakes' art styles

I'm torn through a few characters: King Steve, BM, WM, Fighter and RM. BM and Fighter had excellent chemistry as a pairring. RM was just so brilliant as a member of the cast, and King Steve was...an abonimation of humour, for he was too funny for mortal eyes. It has reduced my lifespan laughing at him. WM howerver, bares the smae reasoning as BM and Fighter, chemistry of relations and since she was searching for Fighter and BM, continuity lies there. Forcing myself to 3, WM, BM and Fighter.

Edit: didn't consider FFT, that could work.

The reason I limited it to three characters and not four was I figured that would avoid the Light Warriors all getting back together and resulting in kind of the same story.

The three I'd pic as cast members would be Fighter, BM, and WM, but that's just me

Don't worry about whether or not it makes sense continuity wise or not

And yeah, we're also going to pretend I'm going to draw it no matter which one you pick, even if you pick one I don't like nor have ever played (like FF9)

Why not break away from FF entirely, and make the theoretical new comic be based on an original IP?

Also: Inb4 FF7. The story was nice overall but I actually hated Cloud's personality with a passion. However, it is anyone's choice, I won't intervene.

FF5, hands down. It's light on story and characterization but big on gameplay elements to make fun of. No returning cast members 'cause that's silly!

Returning cast can have two paths of effect, IMO:
1. Overshadows anyone you introduce, you're forced to develop them in new ways.
2. It is a stable part of your series, it's what helps act as the cement to your new bricks.

Even after I learned, grew up, and came to be on the right side of a lot of important issues, I was still angry, abrasive, and generally increased the amount of hate in the world, in pretty unacceptable ways. On the off chance that someone is taking a trip down memory lane looking through those old threads, I wanted to devote my signature to say directly to you, I'm sorry.
