Just beat Snatcher, pretty much all of it in one sitting. Short, but excellent game.

It's a Kojima adventure game, most of it point-and-click, but with some action-ish parts where you shoot enemies. It actually cuts out most of the bullshit in point and clicks by having very little in terms of puzzle, most of it just being examine the same things several times. Kind of irksome, but it works.

The best part about the game is the story. It's very obviously a Kojima story, but with a lot of influence from sci-fi flicks. It's basically a Kojima take on a Body Snatchers alien invasion movie. There are some low points in the game, most of them revolving around Mika and Katrina, but on the whole it's still really good. The game breaks the fourth wall without it ever being groanworthy. I really love the character interaction in this. Every time Gillian is talking to his wife over the video phone it just... works, and this is taking into account the fairly mediocre voice acting. (Though this voice acting was probably excellent for its time)

Also, the music and graphics (taking into account its age) are just... amazing. I was incredibly impressed with it all.

It has some flaws, but it's still one of Kojima's better games. It's really worth playing even though getting it to work on a Sega CD emulator is kind of a bitch.

Anyone who hasn't played it should. Anyone who has played it should post in here so we can be nerds.

I played the game too .... it was like ... 9-10 months ago.
I remember that I got stuck waiting for napoleon (the bastard never showed up) and I had to start from the beginning again.....
The 2nd time I played he showed up without any problems... but for some reason the time he showed up I didn't get all the "hidden" conversations with bystanders....

The game was pretty awesome and immediatly after beating it I played policenauts.
Noncon, in case you haven't played it yet .. do it... DO IT NAO !
The story is better than Snatcher's !

Yeah, I'm working through Policenauts now and loving it. These game's put most of the MGS games to shame. I do like that you have Policenauts Meryl in your sig.

Yeah, I played Snatcher, it was pretty good. There wasn't a whole lot of actual battles, though, it was mainly like a graphic novel. I thought the actual "plot" behind the Snatchers was a bit hackneyed, too, but the basic premise was pretty cool.

I haven't played Policenauts, what system was it on?

The ending had some problems, but it had some really good ideas, and, as a Kojima take on a Tale of the Body Snatchers type story, it basically worked.

EDIT: Just beat Policenauts. The final confrontation with Becker dragged on a bit too long, but on the whole this was still a really well executed story, even if most of the plot twists are fairly predictable.

I used to have Random Hajile as my avatar. I played Snatcher when I was in my teens and loved it. Random was my favourite character.
