Maybe I'm just getting old but there were times in that demo that I didn't even know what was going on. Sonic would just inexplicably disappear in a haze of light and end up somewhere else. Plus I don't know how hard it is to control that tunneling move, but having seen all those rings underground, I think it would irk me to not be able to get them as I went blasting by.

I think that was Sonic turning into a laser and being carried through pipes or wires of some sort.
