I agree with you. Only the source of the issue is less morons in the government and more morons in the American public. This campaign illustrates poignantly the reality of the matter. Take Our Jobs has offered Americans to take jobs back from migrant workers. Only a handful of people have followed through on it.

Americans are not losing jobs or suffering increased crime or anything else. Yet the myths still persist. Until we fix that, we're not fixing immigration.

It really has nothing to do with the myth even. The myth is just one of the excuses racists like to wheel out so that they can claim they aren't actually racist they just don't want their jobs stolen or whatever. There are things they would do or try to do if it had anything to do with the jobs, but they don't do these things so it's pretty obviously just racism. Another thing I've heard is that "Mexicans wouldn't be patriotic enough" (I'll have to look up the source of that quote sometime), and yet the anti-immigration fucks oppose a discussed reform that would give immigrants citizenship for serving in the military for a certain amount of time. So, it clearly has nothing to do with patriotism either.

In short: Anti-immigration people are completely full of shit and wholly motivated by racism. While I am certain that there are some anti-immigration idiots who aren't racist on a conscious or intentional level and may even be otherwise not-entirely-awful people, that does not mean they aren't racist and aren't awful people about this specific topic.

In that case, the system will just be broken forever. If Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer, and every other kids' show can't manage to curb racism despite some of them having been on the air since our parents were kids, barring massive re-education, it's just not happening. So long as there are racist parents who teach racism to their kids, there will be racism.
