Seriously, I even got a PS3 controller to use with my previous phone (a N900) and that I could use with my laptop (it needs a program though). Having something other than my Wii and laptop for playing games at home would be nice, and now that I got a 1080p TV, the PS3 (with all it's technological stuff) looked very nice. Maybe I should just save for that 3DS :/

Fair warning, Nintendo damn near said it's uncrackable...

I'm giving it two weeks.

Other problems with the 3DS is regionalization and kids wanting to run Linux on it...

I am a loyal Sony customer. I have bought many fine items from the company and have had no major problems with any of them. I, consumer, pledge to continue buying from them because they're so great. All is well.

I haven't had any problems with not being able to hack/mod my DS lite. Yeah, I got one of those trendy card thingies but, I wouldn't miss it if I weren't able to use it. Doing stuff that I would not do in my games like messing with cheats, looking at removed/event only content from a game and other shenanigans, and getting some free games (Tyrian in my laptop, Wii, phone and DS FTW!). I haven't imported any games either (I got this one game at a retail store, which came in a weird transparent DS box once, it was from Europe) so, it's ok if the 3DS won't be hackable for a while/at all, at least, in my case.

OTOH, my Vivaz Pro isn't hackable ATM. rant

Whenever someone says something like that, I have to laugh. Even implying that sort of thing is just a challenge, like telling a six-year-old that they can't get huge air sans limb-shattering or that no, they can't watch The Ring.

I don't know. Really this all aimed at jailbreak nothing more. So long as you not supporting jail brake then they'll leave you be.

Could you blame them though. the PS3 was basically destroyed beyond repair. They might have to bail out of the console fight this gen and focus on PS4 being harder to crack if things get worse.

They have every right to be pissed that they are pretty much going to bleed money from now on unless they cut the PS3 and there losses from it short.

Hell this whole incident might push PS4 out the door sooner then planned.

This is not the right direction at all, and they will drive themselves and their reputation in to the ground if they continue down this path.

edit: I mean, I can't stress enough how much of a terrible move this would be for them to make.

It ranks right up there with that ass-headed wild hair they had for a moment about maybe making PS3 games encode to the console so they can't be rented or bought used.

But Sony takes too much pride in there products. They're going to likely continue to try and stop hacking on their consoles.

It wouldn't surprise me if an early launch for PS4 (as in a year before the others) was partially due to them wanting to replace the then broken PS3 ASAP.

I don't actually see Microsoft or Nintendo moving to a new gen anytime soon, one having just launched a brand new console edition and major interactive device*. For the PS4 to launch 'early', it might actually be jumping the gun a great deal too much then it can handle.

It is important to remember that releasing early not only gets you a step ahead of the game, but it lets your competition learn from your mistakes for their launches instead of making them.

*I would actually like to see this become a trend, with the old method of "new console every couple of years" replaced with "Console software upgrades often, and console hardware upgrades as technology advances". A lot was learned from the early editions of the Xbox 360, which was improved upon in the later manufacturing runs, and more was learned from them and used to improve the new incarnation of the 360.
