So does anyone play League of Legends? Because its pretty fantastic.
For those who don't know, its a MOBA (massive online battle arena. Games like DOTA, basically), free to play but you can buy various characters and skins and things with real money. Most of them can be bought with in-game currency which you slowly earn, though. Good thing, too. The stuff is actually fairly price, five dollars or more for each thing! Anyway, the game is as unbalanced as any other MOBA, but its great fun, has good team dynamics (when your teammates aren't douchebags, but the community is pretty good.), a disturbing amount of lore behind it, fairly rich characters with cool designs and neat abilities... I never actually played a MOBA before this, beyond a bit of DOTA, but I'm doing pretty well despite my noobishness. I would heartily recommend this game to MOBA veterans and new people alike. So, does anyone play? We ought to exchange tags and whatnot. Mine is TDK0333, for anyone who wants to add me. I've been playing Gangplank lately, but I'm also quite fond of Graves. |

Riot did some changes to the jungle I thought were stupid and that caused me to quit playing, combined with the fact that I have the DOTA 2 beta.
It is pretty good, but Riot is not very good as far as balancing goes. Partly because of their obsession of bringing out a new champion every other week, and they kind of have to because that is how their free2play model works. Eventually it is all gonna fall apart and balance will be thrown out the window. |

I dabbled in LoL for a bit but lost interest thanks to the massive roster of heroes making it so I never had any clue what the hell the other team could do until it was being done on me, and even then I wasn't sure what happened.
And then I got the Dota 2 beta and never looked at LoL again. ... And then I got the SMNC beta and never looked at Dota 2 again, but that's a different story for another time.

Balance isn't too huge an issue. With 2 gametypes and one having a 3v3 as well, different champions shine in different situations. Thankfully there is a ban system in place for ranked games, so if one champion gives your team trouble, you can at least block everyone in the game from picking em.
I don't mind underutilized characters as long as they are original and fun. It works for fighting games, it works for this. There will always be people who play the underdog. As long as they don't make the gap too big, it'll be fine. Ok, enough about balance. I just got into the game due to a friend nagging me to play. Found I like support...a lot(go figure, I raided as a priest in vanilla wow). Favorite is probably Karma right now, but I do like Zilean a lot as well. Tag is Quasari. |

Although Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been distracting me for awhile(As well as RE4 now, yaaay Gamefly), I do play LoL.
I will say it seriously knows exactly how to set up a free-to-play game to be profitable, and yet still be genuinely free to... uh, play(Especially since there's quite a few champions you can unlock after a few wins each. Awesome.). As for the variety and amount of champs, I actually like that about League: They each add something different to the game, whether on backstory and/or skillset. I can't really comment on balance, myself, as I'm nowhere near good enough to really analyze that. That said, we do have an expert LoL player here in Numsy, so perhaps you'll get some words on the game's balance later. Anyways, I do recommend this game, although only if you can play up to an hour uninterrupted, depending on the map/game mode/if only one team is super-good(This game is not built for folks going afk at all). |

I play very casually, bought the couple champs I like and stick with them. Corki is the man!

Every now and then a friend convinces me to give it or another MOBA another try. Each time it takes me a day or two to remember that I don't actually find any appeal in the genre.

I've been enjoying this for a few months. THe AFK thing can be a killer, but it is possible to win 4v5...however unlikely (its happened to me before).
As far as balance go, I feel like they atleast do a good job of trying to keep it balanced. As soon as certain exploits start getting over used to the point of broken, they remove it (Jax with passive Dodge+Dodge Runes+Dodge masteries = nigh invincible). SleazyP if anyone wants to find me.
