It would be less empty if people would stop treating their opinions as sacrosanct and think for ten seconds before they go spouting off hurtful nonsense. It is probably a lot easier to stop saying offensive things, than it is to stop being offended. It's easier to not hurt someone's feelings than it is to not have your feelings hurt.

Robin you of course have been made extremely aware of this recently. It goes pretty much to everyone though. There is no reason (apart from my inaction and refusal to address issues that I wanted to ignore/pretend didn't exist) that we should be haivng good friends, people we've known for years and grown up with, leaving because other people can't stop being ignorant and hurtful. It was my job to nip it in the bud, which I failed to do for a variety of reasons, but if people could actually put some thought and consideration into the posts then maybe there wouldn't have been any blowups that required moderation.

Instead we have tumbleweeds.

Actually, I'm of the opinion that quite a few people who are/were regulars need to get a sense of humor and thicker skin. I mean, barring the relatively rare instances of actual bigotry and malice people have just been getting bent out of shape over some dumb shit.

Comes back down to the old saying "can't please all the people all of the time" or however it is. Hell, agreeing to disagree goes a long way. But yeah, shit happens. Can get dirty or move on. It's the internet, thick skin and a sense of humor are almost a requirement. I say dumb shit all the time and if someone does get genuinely offended i'll apologize, make a mental note to avoid that hot button, and carry on with whatever. Otherwise, crack a joke and move the hell on with life. It's too short to get pissy about every stupidass blurb people say.

Might or might not be the right place to bring this up, but hey we're a talkin i might as well drop it here. I'd like to see more activity in the chat again. Popped in when i have time to kill and it has been a barren wasteland of connecting and disconnecting since craps exploded. Or the NPF steam chat, seeing more use, at the very least, beyond the friday/saturday shindigs. Seems there's fragmentation within fragmentation. A central point of cohesion wouldn't hurt to bring the community together some more.
