Generally, Star Wars has a lot of neat military technology (even if the measurements and hardware make no sense) that one can geek out about without those nagging "This is used to kill people" thoughts associated with geeking out over real tanks or fighter jets or guns.
Just another appeal beyond an RPG I never played. Isn't this a Star Trek thread? Edit: Wait, no, just checked, Star Wars thread.

In better news: 3D Re-releases of previous Star Wars films have been cancelled.

Probably because mere rereleases would garner the amount that the EP1 3D remake made, without having to pay to convert it to 3D. I know I'd go see the originals again if they were rereleased.

Well, I'm sure Ep VII will be 3D. But of course, it'll be a toss-up as to whether it's post-converted or not; Abrams has yet to shoot a native 3D film, at any rate. But there's no way they wouldn't go 3D will a film this big, not if they want any kind of profit overseas these days. Though given the two (and a half) year window until the release date, maybe that'll force their hand to shoot natively; they pushed GI JOE 2 back almost a full year to do a post-conversion, after all...

As for the sequel, it's hard to up the stakes when the series has already had a planet-destroying weapon... twice.
Hopefully, EP 7 will be a character-driven affair with a closer look at personal torments instead of external ones. Abandon the black/white good/evil schism. The Force is about balance and balance is only interesting as it oscillates towards equilibrium through many shades of gray. I want personality laced with nostalgia instead of pretty effects shoehorning nostalgia as an end upon itself. I want 'No Galaxy for Old Jedi.' EDIT. Decided to make some concept art: ![]()

2) I think the bigger factor was that they originally killed off Channing Tatum in the first act, right when his movie dick was exploding all over the place last year, so they had to rejigger things to give him more presence. Quote:

Samantha Barks stole every scene she had in Les Miserables. Anyone who can make me forget Russel Crowe's awful singing deserves more roles. I haven't had the chance to watch a lot of TV or movies recently apart from Sesame Street and Anpannman. After a quick imdb and youtube review, I am shamed by my ignorance of Heimdall's acting range. That sexy accent would be a much better fit. He was actually born in the borough of Hackney! Win. I thought Clive needed some sort of redemption from going from Children of Men to Shoot 'Em Up... but screw it. On topic.... 3D breaks my immersion in movies since I tend to look over the glasses once every ten minutes. I'm surprised it has lasted as long as it has. I hope Star Wars (and every movie) keeps out of that fad.

I'm a little torn on 3D. I personally kind of hate it, but I think as a concept it has some merit? I guess it adds to the immersion for some people but I've only ever felt that was the case on theme park rides that use it which are closer to video games and pretty distinct from movies.
I also wanted to say I keep trying to rep Arlia for that Jedi poster but I'm on my phone and it isn't working ATM but that was pretty fantastic.
