Serious unisex tshirts are a lie

you can't just scribble out "men's" and change it to "unisex" and have that actually be true

these shirts are boxy and ugly and i look awful in them

like this is seriously just treating male as default

seriously i have shirts from pre-transition and i refuse to wear them without cutting them up cuz the shape of mens shirts is awful

so it really annoys me when the bulk of selection in some online clothing stores is "unisex"

if mens shirts get to be unisex then so should women's shirts every shirt is unisex it aint fucking matter but if you only do it with mens shirts you're a prick and you make shopping awful

Too true. If you have to take scissors to it to make it cute or otherwise alter it to make it look not like you have chosen to wear a male relative's or SO's shirt then it is not unisex.

All clothes are unisex clothes! There's no good biological reasons for people to wear different kinds of clothing. Except that those of us with testis should wear skirts or loose fitting pants to keep our crotch from heating up too much.

Obviously anyone can wear what they want, I'm just saying the only proper scientific argument for certain people to wear certain clothes is the above mentioned one.

Yeah, outside of social norms, classism, and a means of protection. We don't really have much of a reason to wear cloths to begin with. Much less gender lock them.

I'm not necessarily sure what you mean by 'men's shirts', Kim. Do you mean the shoulders are too broad? I'm not exactly sure what constitutes a men's shirt other than if something is printed on it specifically to appeal to men or the fact that some men's shirts are actually bigger by comparison. (Not to mention the sizes are measured differently.)

If the former is the case, does anyone where you live know sewing? I could suggest removing some of it and then having the shoulders sewn closer together if that's the problem. As for their width... well, I'm no tailor, but it might work the same if you remove a few centimeters to an inch if need be and do the same thing. As long as it doesn't have decal on it, it should work. I dunno, I'm trying to offer solutions, but as I said, I'm no tailor.

*Looks, sees that the majority of my clothes are unisex*

I personally don't see the problem, but I imagine it is really more about personal choice then anything.

While we're at it, may I complain about how shitty pockets are in women's clothing? Most modern women's jeans can only fit like, a chapstick, whereas my husband can easily fit his wallet, keys, etc. into his pockets. Yeah, I have a purse, but it's annoying to have to lug something around with you all the time. There is a distinct lack of function in the majority of women's clothing, and I don't think it's impossible for something to look cute while also being comfortable, but it's hard to find clothing designed for women that fits both those criteria. Even my coats and jackets, which could easily accommodate more pockets without compromising their look, are lacking. (I did find this really old pair of Levis at a thrift store that must've been from the 80s or something because the pockets actually comfortably fit both my hands AND my phone and a bunch of other crap. Yay 80s pants.)

Edit: also wide width women's shoes are a lie. God I hate trying to find shoes that don't suffocate my feet and also aren't ugly as sin.

It usually means there is no defined waist.

Personally, I like men's t-shirts because they aren't tight (and therefore more easily absorb sweat which sits on top of my skin for an extra layer of annoyance) and don't dig into my armpits (which have extremely sensitive skin ever since I moved to Vegas for some reason) the way women's t-shirts do. Fortunately, there are some currently fashionable women's shirts that are a little looser (usually with hi-lo cuts and larger armholes).

Edit 2:

WAIT I'M NOT DONE.

FUCKING GLASSES. Women's glasses are too small/tight! Cause last time I had to get a new pair of glasses, I tried on at least a dozen pairs and only one pair fit me comfortably. I tried on a few designer pairs (which couldn't be adjusted to be larger) and they were way too small, even for my relatively small head. Just, WTF. Designer clothing doesn't just prefer women who are lean, it also prefers women with tiny heads. o_O

Yeah, like legit the reason so many women carry around purses is cuz if we didn't we'd have no way of carrying our stuff around and its bullshit.

And I usually have to go up a size / size and a half to find heels that actually fit. I think I heard something like nine out of ten women are wearing shoes too narrow for their feet. It sucks.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I don't like the shape cuz they look so boxy and when I wear them they're looser around the waist than the chest cuz of boobs and it just feels and looks weird to me.

I wouldn't say it means "mens" as much as, big. Skeletal structure between men and women is not the same. Though thats only really an issue if you are thin. Put on enough fat and its the major deciding factor on your body shape.

Anywho, it makes sense that unisex is essentially a male garment. Cause male upper body is stockier so you need something closer to that shape to fit both sexes. Only area where women might be bigger is the bust and again that would mean "make it bigger"

Nah. Women's shirts look better on men too, so long as they're in good shape. The classic male V torso is accentuated by the cuts on women's shirts and they actually fit pretty well.

. . .One of my Ex's was kinda pissed at me when I looked better in a couple of her shirts than she did.

Doubt that'd be the case anymore though. Hit thirty and got a little pudge. Normally not noticeably but I'm pretty sure it would be in a shirt with a waist.
