Serious Shamelessly Using NPF as a Test Audience

So, in the course of my new profession I have received the green light on creating a blog about trans issues. Basically, this is so I can write something with a little more substance than "5 First Date Ideas". In order to separate this blog from the rest, I've decided to try writing pieces that offer information that is more detailed and varied than what you typically find. The ultimate goal is to create content that is accessible to both trans people and our allies. To accomplish that, I am attempting to present a wealth of information and break it down so that it is easy for everyone to digest.

However, the bane of every educator is that while I may know what it is I'm saying, others may not understand what I'm getting at.

Before I start releasing this content to the masses, I would like to give it a bit of a test run. My aim is to see how effective the content is and get some feedback/suggestions. The actual site isn't quite done yet (I'm waiting on a logo and banner + other tweaks around the site) so it'll be a few more days before I'm ready to actually unleash this full-force. You can find the pilot article here.

Of course, getting to show off how awesome my first not-shit job is is an added bonus

Thank you in advance to anyone who wants to indulge me on this. This project is, by far, the one I'm most passionate about and I'm excited to share it! I threw this in general because I figured some of you may want to discuss the topic covered in the article.

It was pretty good. Read very informative which is not what I was expecting, but I think is a good thing in general.

The only criticism I'd give is that the last actual paragraph, this one:

Flows a little awkwardly?

I just got off work and I'm not a professional editor so I'm in no position to try to correct it or be more exact than that. It just feels like more sentences than are necessary and almost every sentence has a qualifier which kinda throws off the general. . . flow of the writing.

I'unno.

Still, better than most of the shit I read online.

Thanks, I'll definitely revisit that paragraph when I get to work tomorrow. The main issue I'm dealing with is adapting my writing style. Before taking this job, I would typically write long sentences that would usually get an entire paragraph's point across but, with this, I have to try to simplify my style for mass consumption. The dating sites that I'm writing for aren't as big of a deal since the blogs exist for the sole purpose of generating content and boosting our search result rankings.

With this project, I need to strike that balance between easy for the masses to read, optimized for search engines, and not awkwardly written. Since this is a WordPress site, I have a plugin that harps at me over everything I write and where I write it. Its SEO advice is solid, but it's a real son of a bitch when it comes to rating the readability of the content. Nonetheless, I'm using it as a guideline for simplifying my writing.

Default needs more clickbait?

"You won't believe these 5 stats from the Transgender Survey!"

...I jest.

Anyways, I thought it was pretty accessible and informative. Sorry, I don't have anything constructive to offer. But you should keep writing and sharing it with us, if you like. The more you write, the more you should be able to settle in to a style that flows nicely.
