So a friend of mine told me about a really interesting fan game called something like Pokemon Radiation or something, and it was supposed to be on Steam, but I couldn't find it - or any Pokemon at all on Steam, for that matter.
Anyone know anything about that? Was I just looking in the wrong place or using the wrong name? I was looking forward to being able to play Pokemon on a PC on my own time, but I just wasn't able to find anything when I looked. Thanks in advance! ![]() EDIT: Also, I'd tried looking it up, but it just brought me to the post-apocalypse theory in Google. Former title:

They were probably talking about Pokemon Uranium: http://pokemon-uranium.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
I think it's been pulled by a DMCA takedown from Nintendo.

That looks awesome! Sucks that it got taken down. :/ Oh well. I suppose this is now a thread to discuss Pokemon Uranium, if people want to! Or something!

Custom Pokemon games always sat in a weird place for me. I've always kinda wanted to play them, but the ones that I have seen just seemed really badly put together or full of the dumbest looking fake-mon. Also I'm kinda stuck in the belief that Pokemon excels as a handheld game that you can play on the go. Being shackled to my computer to play something that I would usually be playing while I travel is a bit off-putting.

I was just looking for an interesting RPG-style game to play on the PC. It sounded really cool, too. Looks neat, too. But anyway.

Skimming Uranium's Pokedex, they have a few interesting pokemon designs, but overall nothing that really excited me. Their corruption radiation mechanic seems like it might either get annoying fast or be a quick path to extra strong pokemon.....or both.

As for the radiation mechanic, though I need to look into it more (I need to look into this game more in general), it sounded nifty. It surely could get old - or not. I'd want to try it before passing judgement. I sometimes enjoy that kind of interesting randomization. In PnP I'd find it excessively frustrating. In a system of "Gather more or less random semi-interchangeable teams to throw against others." it's less of a big deal, and appeals more to my, "Patience and time." style of play - it feels like it could be a satisfying pick-up-and-go on the PC. Of course, I was never a major Pokemon fan. I memorized the originals only because of a friend in highschool - I've now forgotten most of them. I only played a little bit of yellow and a smattering of the other games after I got married. They were fun, but I never really had the time, or easy access to the systems or the games. I have enjoyed Nuzlockes, however (which the radiation thing would play merry havoc with and should probably be avoided at all costs, unless you're willing to tank the entire thing to bank on an early randomized bump to something). So in that sense, this seemed kind of like the perfect opportunity. Seemed like a fun game with interesting mechanics on a platform that I could access with a sub-mechanic relevant to my style of play. But I can totally see a difference of opinion - it makes sense that if you prefer the mobile version and more reliable or consistent mechanics you'd like the main line better - and if you weren't grabbed by the designs, then, yeah, that'd be a factor, too. I do like what I've seen so far. I also tend to like fan games, however - I was deeply disappointed at the early C&D of both Crimson Echoes and CT: Resurrection, as a quick-to-mind example, so I might have some bias toward such things that I've been unaware of before now - whereas I'd chalked those up, previously, to simply being a fan of CT in general (and SE's relatively weird-to-poor handling of the franchise); the latter is certainly the stronger possibility, but the former is a possibility.

This was recently given to me, and it's actually really fun, so far.
The difficulty is pretty high, but then again I'm really sick right now, so... go figure. That said, I'm uncertain if it's in keeping with our policies for me to offer it from a safe source, here, or not. Thanks!

This seems relevent. And I think posting a link to a DMCA'd game is a very grey area, I'd say it's a mod call there.

Also, from my understanding (which, I submit, is rocky), they didn't actually receive direct contact, but were informed of the intent to file and more or less complied before a notice was fully put through or some-such? Effectively, the take-down was never served - it was never needed to be served, as it was already taken down. I figured it was enough gray that I'd leave it in the hands of mod - I'm not interested in doing anything wrongsome*, hence asking before acting. ![]() * I need to catch up on that comic.
