irony is going on a blind date...
only to find out that your date is deaf

No, that would be an unfortunate coincidence. Becoming blinded while on your blind date would be ironic, while becoming blinded by your blind date would be precisely ironic. :P

I personally like the second part of the definition of irony in my dictionary: "the apparent perversity of fate or circumstances."
And yes, irony, sarcasm, and dry wit are the best. There is none better (to my mind) than British humour. I also love "stupidity" humour: Darwin awards (although these can sometimes be a bit... off), insane (but real) signs and labels, weird laws, etc. One form of humour that I don't encounter very often, but very much enjoy, is language humour. I don't think that I'll ever forget one from an old English test, on the topic of ambiguity. It went something like this: "Umbrella for sale by old lady with steel ribs." I always laugh at the image of the old lady with steel ribs... ![]() As for myself, I have a tendency towards bad puns. Very bad puns. Luckily for all of you, I only seem to come up with them in live conversations.

Something else that amuses me, in a dark kind of way, is stupid people, or mean people. Doing dumb things and then having to deal with the consequences. Now, I don't mean the little dumb things we all do...I'm talking stupid criminals, forum trolls...I guess a better way of putting it would be "poetic justice."

I'm expecting to see a little of that here any time now, as soon as Shiney or Mash log on and sweep through the General boards...

Most definitely. Mockery is always fun...one of my favorite things to mock is pop singers (don't even get me started on that one:P). And let's not forget stupid people.

yes, and people who take themselves too seriously. Anything put out by disney recently is also fairly fun, though it's a bit too easy. Oooh, and mocking people who are really bad at mockery, thats the best, mainly cause it combines mockery, poetic justice, and occasionally irony.
