Coding?
I was wondering if there was anyplace(on internet please) where I could learn coding, for making a webpage if you want specifics.
I know nothing about this stuff so if i'm delusional and there isn't a way, just tell me and I'll disapear into the shadows agian. Or you could try and teach me here. That would be nice. |

One thing I would recommend is that if you start coding websites that you try to include the www.w3c.org standers that way people who do not use IE will have no problems viewing your web pages. Sorry I do not know of any websites that can help you lean to code pages.

Just a little advice. Web pages are great for begining but your goining to need something more. Books are absolutely required. I started with websites but books offer many things sights can't. Like a hand reference you can read without needing your computer, or having to search through seven pages of links to get what you need. That and if you get one of those super thick idiots guides you'll get a lot more info than any one website can give you. Html isn't that hard and as such isn't that powerful so I suggest you move into javascript as soon as you can use style sheets and frames well. Even if you don't like style sheets and frames they are the most complicated aspect of html and such are great ways to prepare yourself for the next step. Also if you need help with something I can give you a little help scripting. There is an example of a script I wrote for my desktop floating around here somewhere in one of the desktop threads.

I saw that script. I understood little. But I'll ask you for help if I need it, assuming you meant that was ok. It'll be a while before I actually put a site up though, I want to read up on it first.
I'll look for a good book, but I have little money. Thus this thread. |

Sorry, I've not bookmarked any of them.
I normally search for the feature/tag I want to use if I don't remember or know what it is, thus randomly getting some pages on CSS or whatever. HTML itself is simple enough that you learn it just via doing it, as it quickly becomes as easy as typing real words. For things more advanced, such as javascripting or php, you likely will indeed be better served by a book, as most websites offer cut-and-paste scripts rather than detailed tutorials. I'm sure you'd also be able to find help around these parts. I recommend the DOS prompt or Notepad for editing webpages, if'n you're on a Windows machine. Textedit if a Mac. And Emacs if Linux/UNIX. Or you could look into an actual program built for it, but that's excessive.
