Intro to a composition

Here is an intro to a Symphony I just wrote. And by just wrote, I mean, the intro...not the Symphony...all I've got of that is...the intro. Please give feedback. I don't think it's good enough to finish.

I'm not hearing the variations. Another problem might be that since it's a midi file, it sounds different on all computers.

You're not hearing variations because they don't exist yet. I just randomly name my music files. : )
Edit: So what do you think of this theme?

It's nicly made

I myself got a peacefull...sweeping view of like wooden houes's in a earlier time or such kinda vibe from it lol.

I like it. It's well written and inventive. Though as one composer to another I should advise you against putting your MIDI files on the internet. I write a large majority of my music in MIDI format, but I record MP3s of them and put them up that way, because it's very easy for others to claim your work as their own, especially when you're a young composer and not a lot of people have heard your work. If you keep the original MIDI file seperate from what you share with the world, you'll be able to use that as evidence that it is in fact your composition.

That would involve converting the file-type twice tho. It started out as a finale file.

Yes, but also, if you convert it to an mp3, you're assured that everyone else is hearing what you hear when you made it. Different sound cards play midi files slightly differently.

That's another good point, Hamelin. With MP3, you can master your sound, add various effects and make it sound just generally better. Particularily if you have a good MIDI setup to begin with.

Also, I write a lot of my stuff in Finale as well and I've had no trouble converting it to MP3. You'd probably have even less trouble since you probably don't have a soundcard that refuses to record itself unless you hook the output into the input.

Its interesting, although I'll profess that I'm still a fan of traditional tonality. Hmm, maybe I'll load up a few of my own pieces someday. However good job. I liked the orchestration, although... where are the strings?
