Wasn't this a premise for one of the hundred grand commercials a while back? Something similar at least, as I recall.

only in America can something be given away for free (be it $100k, or just a candy bar) and people will actualy get upset about it.

NO he did not, He passed a law that forbade you the right to declare bankruptcy for frivolous reasons.
This lawsuit is stupid. end of story.

Two points: 1) Radio stations are constantly pulling pranks, and many of them are more embarrassing than this. But you don't see all those people suing. I mean, heck, relationships have probably ended over some calls on radio shows.

2) If this lady is so poor, why the hell is she suing? Doesn't she realize that she barely has a case and now she is going to have to pay the lawyer?

1) Usually the relationship ending is the couples fault, and proably would have happened anyway, so there would be little argument to sue.

2) Maybe she couldn't afford education either? It sounds to me that this is but another dot in a long line of bad decisions.

Well, the kind of people who are stupid enough to get in fights on the radio are also probably stupid enough to blame the radio station for the death of their relationship. Maybe not to the point of suing though.

In this crazy place, anything is possible. I see the probability of a lawsuit like that pretty high. In my town, a blind lady was hit by a car and then succesfully sued because her cane damaged the vehicle that hit her....if that lawsuit can win, then we have lost something fundamental.

the phrasing is what matters.

if they said "you get 100 grand" that implies a quantity, such as 100,000 dollars, whereas "you get a 100 grand" implies an object called 100 grand, not a quantity.

never before has a single letter made such a large monetary difference.

She would get more money by suing the station for a crank-call had they made one on her (as radio stations often do), than from this lawsuit... which will be $0 dollars pluse paying the legal fees, putting her at a negative.

Unless she get's freakin' Gloria Allred or something as her attonrey. Then the station is screwed into a settlement at least.
