This man is walking across the country to battle his weight problem. Read the essay on the front page. Sign the guest book to show your support. Does anyone think he'll make it in 6 month, given his rate so far?

Um, I support him but...
I don't think this is going to cure his weight problem. In fact, I hope he doesn't die if he's as over wieght as he claims. Signed, though. Good luck man.

While what he's doing is great, don't you think it's kind of selfish at the same time? He never mentioned what his family thinks of his weight, for all we know they're perfectly comfortable with it and now he's jeopardizing they're well being because he wants to go away for 6 monthes! He said they could loose they're car and land... if he were my dad I think I'd be a little upset.

His rationale is that he can accumulate material possessions again, quite easily. But should he die of any of the numerous health risks from being obese, he will never get a new life.

We'll have to do this the hard way.

Wouldn't it be faster and more calorie burning to ride a bike to NYC? But then again, saying you're gonna ride a bike doesn't have the same mental effect.
I.E. Fat man #1: Im gonna ride a bike to NYC! Random web surfer: ehh, good luck with that. Fat Man #2: Im gonna walk across the country! web surfer: OMG! PRAISE! Support! Fat Man #1: huh?

Well, it taken him 5 months to go 539 miles. At this rate, he'll get there in like a year or two. I'm not saying it's a bad goal, but it is a bit hard. Biking would go a lot faster.

I don't think there will be any drastic changes in the guy. I think its really cool whats hes doing though. I'm sure his family would be okay with it if they got to keep him a little bit longer. I think I would be okay with it but I would miss my dad.
