Taking in the sights and sounds of the bazaar Jason wandered down, he began to address his current situation.

From what he could remember from his memories (or was it a dream), he surmised that he had indeed passed on. Deceased. Kicked the proverbial bucket. The knowledge did little to explain how he had come to arrive in such a strange place.

He saw different vendors selling different items, most of them displaying colors other than the ever-present grey, from books, to LP records, to pottery dating back at least a three thousand years, all from a glance. It truly was an archeologist’s best wish. Jason could indeed spend years studying and observing the artifacts and people in this one location alone.

The crashing of panicked man into what appeared to be a grey potato vendor’s kiosk knocked Jason out of his intellectual stupor. He merely observed the man, not even thinking to help him. Not that Jason was uncaring, the thought just never occurred to him.

Those nutjob street kids must have hit Roland harder than he'd thought. He was way out of things. As people who appeared to be from all periods of history bought and sold their things around him, he could only sit there and drink all of it in, slowly.

The city was all so grey, and lifeless. If this was supposed to represent anything about his life, he really should get out skiing more often. As dead as the buildings were, though, the people were alive and real enough. Quickly unstrapping his PDA from his left wrist, he examined the back. Serial numbers engraved in it and all. This was certainly the most detailed dream he'd ever been in.

One vendor, with an array of time measurement devices around him, called over to Roland. "Hey, you, in the suit! How much for the fancy watch?"

"Err... it's not for sale, sorry." Strange. Well, may as well get somewhere less crowded and make a plan. Taking cover beside a stall full of Egyptian-looking artifacts, Roland collected his wits.
